Columbia University teachers and students held a rally this week to show outrage over a noose found hanging from a black professor's office door.

Professor Madonna Constantine called it a "blatant act of racism," The Associated Press reported.
"I'm upset that our community has been exposed to such an unbelievably vile incident. Hanging the noose on my door reeks of cowardice and fear on many, many levels," she told the crowd Wednesday.
Police are investigating the incident this week as a hate crime. According to ABC News, police wanted to check campus security cameras to determine whether the act was caught on tape, but the university has yet to turn the tapes over.Police say it could have been hung by another faculty member as part of an ongoing dispute with the professor, WABC reported.
Constantine had a noose hung on her door on Tuesday. The professor has published scholarly works on racism and ethnicity, according to her bio online.

The hostile and potent lynching symbol has returned to the public eye with the Jena Six case recently and now it seems it won't go away. The USA Today has reported on the numerous copycats.
"Any time you have a case that receives national notoriety, you see an uptick in copycat offenses," Brian Levin, executive director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino, told the USA today.
But that does not justify these acts of racism.

My question is to the administrators, educators, and financial advisors, from Columbia University, "how could you people tolerate racism on any level within the University?
By condoning that particular racist ideology attached to the simple "enjoyment" of a tree ,based on the color of ones skin ,as a determinate as to who will not be allowed (blacks) and who is allowed to sit under the shade of a tree , and call yourself's role models the students need, to carry them into the next century? What a joke!
I think taking all things into consideration the executive board should be fired, the president should be fired, the dean of students should be fired for allowing this kind of racisim to survive and remain alive and well, living at Columbia University.
It is our duty to irradicate racism on all levels. obviously this mentality didn't just happen , this racism has been passed on from one generation to another. It isn't the building that promoted this racism it is the faculity, administration, and financial advisors who felt comfortable with that racist ideology.
Lets hold those in accountability who deserves to be held accountable. The students who noosed the ropes, hung them on the tree sent out a powerful message. That blacks aren't safe on Columbia's campus.
I think it's sad some parents in the 21st century are still probagating racism. And the bigger picture, kids only do what they have been taught. I don't blame the kids who fostered this ideology, I blame their parents!

Please take some time to review Dr. Candi Hudson and Tawanna Thierry interview on Fox News - Randy Wallace Investigates:

Dr. Candi Hudson and Tawanna Thierry filed a Discrimination Lawsuit against oil giant, Schlumberger. Although Dr. Candi Hudson and Tawanna Thierry are the first in history to firmly stand, the fact remains that racism and sexism has existed for decades. The harsh reality of Schlumberger’s market position and political association breeds comfort to “act” above the law. “Many are called, but only a few are chosen” taken from the Bible, brilliantly describes Dr. Candi Hudson and Tawanna Thierry decision to stand against “Goliath”.
