Once again Rev. Al Sharpton is asking someone for an apology. This time it's none other than Vice President Dick Cheney who's the subject of his discontent.
According to the Daily News, a confederate flag was found hanging inside the garage of a Clove Valley Gun and Rod Club located in upstate New York, which the VP just so happened to be pheasant hunting at.
Cheney, who is no stranger to hunting and bad press, having accidentally shot his friend in the face last year, claimed he was unaware of the entire incident.
According to the vice president's spokesperson, Leanne McBride, neither the vice president, nor anyone on his staff noticed the flag.
Whether you agree with him or not, Sharpton has a point. The confederate flag just has too much negative connotation for it not to be considered a racist symbol by many African Americans.
In this time when there are so many strong negative symbols being put out there, the confederate flag might as well be a swastika or a noose.
In a release through his publicist Sharpton had this to say: "In this age of Jena and hangmen nooses all over the country, for the Vice President to relax under the flag of the hangmen nooses is an unpardonable insult to all Americans, particularly Blacks."
When a reporter requested an official comment from the club, he was threatened with arrest by the club officials. "It's appalling for the VP to be at a private club displaying the flag of lynching, hate and murder," said Sharpton. "It's the epitome of an insult."

74. The only way racism will end is when the world that we know ends. All races have their opinions about other races. I'm black and it's really pisses me off to have to read or hear a person of another race say "SLAVERY IS IN THE PAST, GET OVER IT". The history books are filled with the past of how the white man has conquered land and saved the world. Blacks got a few lines in the history books on how we were slaves and the north came to free us and then Martin Luther King marched and then we could vote and ride in the front of the bus. How do you get over the ancestors that you are able to trace back to being in slavery and the current issues we have to deal with being decendants of slaves. Well, Jerry I would leave but where would I go? It's white people everywhere trying to claim every piece of land all over the world, so it's not safe anywhere. See Jerry what you don't seem to understand, like most of your people, blacks were not just enslaved during slavery. Over the years there have been all kind of ridiculous laws put into place to keep blacks and other minorities seperate from whites. EXAMPLE:In some urban communties getting caught with a certain amount of drugs can get you 5 to 10 years in prison, but getting caught with the same amount in the suburbs can get you less than 2years. They have all kind of statistics on blacks and welfare, trying to make it seem like we are the majority on the system, bullcarp. Jerry if everything is all good and blacks are just a lazy, complaining, excuse making group of people... then why are whites sooooo afraid of becoming the MINORITY? Jerry it's obvious you know nothing about blacks and you could say the same thing about me and whites, but the like I said before the history books are filled with the history of the white man.
