It has been confirmed that Dr. Donda West, mother of rap superstar Kanye West, died from "complications due to plastic surgery."

As days have passed and as more and more information has emerged, Dr. West's tragic death is almost a text book case of what NOT to do when having elective surgery.
Dr. West, 58, a former college educator, was co-founder and chair of the Kanye West Foundation at the time of her death.
She had known medical issues, possibly a thyroid and/or heart condition, and was reportedly turned away by another plastic surgeon because he wanted her to get clearance from her internist, which she did not. (TMZ.com)
West instead went to Dr. Jan Adams, who briefly hosted TV show, 'The Other Half' and a Discovery Channel health program, for a tummy tuck and breast reduction. Adams paid two patients almost $500,000 to settle two malpractice suits in 2001.
According to TMZ.com, Donda West's operation lasted eight hours -- twice as long as it should have. In addition, instead of sending Ms. West to a recovery center, she was sent home, where she died a day after her surgery, and before paramedics arrived.
As it turns out, not only is Dr. Adams not Board Certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery, but he currently has a bevy of open malpractice suits, including allegations of sexual battery and physical assault, DUI convictions and pending disciplinary action from the California Medical Board.
In an initial statement Adams said that West's death was "unforeseen and could have been caused by a heart attack, pulmonary embolism, or massive vomiting."
An autopsy performed on November 13 will officially determine Dr. Donda West's cause of death. Funeral arrangements are reportedly scheduled for Tuesday, November 20 in Oklahoma.

Hello Kanye, I have never met you or your mom, but she ment the world to my daughter, Reesheda Graham. Donda was an advisor to Reesheda when she was working on her 1st Masters degree. Reesheda told me that Donda is who inspired her to write poetry, she is currently a Principal of an elementary school in Chicago. I just wanted to extend to you what your mother extended to my daughter, because it takes a village. Although I could never be Donda for you, know that I am a second Mom to many. You will always be in my prayers son. Continue to be the best that you can be and know that God is in loving control.
Monda

That is really sad. Lots of people are focusing too much on outward appearance and not enough on how they treat people, and etc. You can try to look like a Barbie doll all you want, but if you don't have a heart, you can be the ugliest person. I hate Kanye had to lose her.

I think that it is really sad that Kanye mother past, my heart goes out to him. But i must say why would they try to bring up all the bad that the Dr. had done before in the past did his mother not know or did'nt care? It's crazy cause somtime it take for someone rich or just famous to die or really get hurt for the truth to come out about everything. Now I guess the Dr. killed her cause him did'nt perform the surgury right. Get it together people! R.I.P

Kanye, your Mother was a strong woman who would want you to have strength yourself and the comfort of knowing that She is in a higher place watching over you. With the passing of your Mother, you still do not stand alone-all Mothers cannot match her value to you. but we can send our love to a son.

I heard the tape of the 911 call. The woman was incompetent who was trying to help. I only have sympathies for the family. Being famous and in the public eye you can lose yourself and put your health at risk. Shows like Nip Tuck make us believe that we just have a simple procedure and change ourselves. Donda's death should have never happened, it is such a waste.
