Jena: Thank God for Civil Rights ... and Civil Fights

... And the winner for this week's People Who Suck Award goes to members of the Nationalist Movement who showed up in Jena, La., to make asses of themselves on MLK Day.

This group, which The Associated Press estimated at about 50, had the nerve to truck themselves down to the small town that made headlines last fall to moan about the Jena Six and to protest the national King holiday.

Yeah, yeah, I know. First Amendment. Defend rights to Free Speech.

But if the group, an organization of white supremacists, has the rights to denigrate both justice for blacks and one of its most ardent defenders, then I've got just as much right to publicly call them out for being jerks.

Fortunately there was a multicultural group of counter protesters who came to bring the pain, and shut 'em down.

That's what's great about America. Anyplace you have someone standing up to sound like an idiot, anyone else is free to stand up and tell them to sit down and shut the hell up.

THANKS DEB #7 YEAH WHEN IT COMES TO EQUAL RIGHTS YOU HAVE TO FIGHT VERY HARD FOR IT HERE IN NC BECAUSE THEY STILL THINK YOU KNOW THAT WE ARE BACK IN THE DAYS AND THEY REALLY DON'T LIKE NORTHERNERS HERE A LOT OF THEM ARE STILL STUCK ON THE CIVIL WAR THING WHEN WE HELPED FREE THEM FROM SLAVERYYOU KNOW THEY ARE UPSET ALSO THAT IN THE NORTH WE ARE TAUGHT TO BE OUTSPOKEN AND DEFEND OURSELVES AND HERE IN THE SOUTH THEY ARE MORE HUSH HUSH YOU KNOW THEY ARE JUST JEALOUS AND TRY TO TAKE EVERYTHING ONE HAVE. OR MAKE YOU LOSE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE.

i guess living in new york city fools me into thinking that racism has changed. i know that there would always be racists but why are there still those who feel the need to start a genocide? how can you really think you have control over someone else's life because of the color (or lack thereof) of your skin?

I am so sorry to report, but the Assoicated Press is wrong on that number. The number for the "nationalist", lol, was only 12-15. The majority was the press its self. This was reported by local press here in Alexandria, La. Like i said before and I will say it again, they need to just sit down.

what a waste of precious life as individuals we all should strive for a meaningful better way to live among each other. Death is the only thing that is assured, everything else is compromise and wishful thinking.Why not do yourself a service and give yourself the gift of unity somehow it makes life alot more comfortable and eliminates so much stress,perhaps it may help you to live a lil bit longer
