In a statement, Simmons swore allegiance to Obama: "While I am endorsing Senator Obama as a private citizen, I am in complete solidarity with the transformative consciousness of the growing number of artists and young people from the hip-hop generation that are overwhelmingly supporting Obama."Simmons previously was in solidarity with Dennis Kucinich. In an interview with the New York Times last year, he dismissed Obama as a change agent: "So at the end of the day, he's controlled, too. That's my point. He's a mouse, too, like everybody else."
Simmons will campaign for Obama in Cleveland, Kucinich's hometown. Reality bites and "the best laid schemes of mice and men go oft awry."

in response to the person who thinks it is all about a person of color gettihng their just do. Your comments make me sad for you. it is a mighty shame that from the gate this man who has devoted his entire adult life to being about the people has to be so scrutinized from "his own". I don't even see the need to put him and Clarence Thomas or especially OJ in the same story. Yes the people tried to rally around Clarence Thomas and in return he shoed his behind and has gotten himeself so far into the other side that it is as though he isn't one of us anymore. Our thoughts are almost never his. OJ is another poor example of a man who does not have the sense to quit while he is ahead. And let none of us not see that it is his own that keep helping to bring him one more step down. It is such a shame that we are so worried about how black Obama is or isn't that if straight out questioned most of us could not speak on the actual stance of any of his issues. It is so sad that we are the first ones who want ot pick up on anything negative avbout him and run with it. And it is really a damn shame that he could not stop campaigning and attend the black caucus because if he puts himself in a position to depend on us he is hit and he might as well just go home. I have been a long time advid friend of Tavis Smiley for ages, still ave respect for him, but can't get with his continuous take on Obama. We All better sit up and pay attention. WE All better start listening to Everything that is being said and done because while we can't make up our minds the republicans have it all settled and they are out to get us once again. We better know what we are doing and why or we are going to be in for 4 more years of the last 8. Hillary is Not our friend. Hillary does not have our best interests at heart. Hillary is ready to start from day 1 because she is so tied up with all those interest groups who have been railroading us forever. She boasts 35 yrs of experience. How can that be. She accused Barrack of plageurizing and the media showed us the very next day how she is guilty of the same. She got one victory from crying for God's sake. Is that the quality we think our leader needs? I worked at a voting site and it was amazing to me the blind support that Hillary had from our young black men. What issue is she standing on so strong that would actually benefit them? We crucify Michelle for her comments but when we sit down and take a look arouind, when we know the struggle of those before us is this actually a country that has "given" us anything? Even today this country tries to make us backseat citizens and too many of them still think we should not be here or that we are only good enough to shine their shoes and clean their houses. I am a person who looks at this war as another subtle attempt of theirs at genacide of our young black men. They keep coming to our low income neighborhoods and offering our young men the American dream, but they don't tell you that first you have to make it back home from a couple duties in Iraq. How many of us have young men in some part of the service that are getting evrything but the dream. And please note that Every person with the power of the pen to send our children over their sign boldly because their children are exempt from having to. Are we sitting up and taking notice that Obama's real enemies are us and Hillary.Hillary, because she can't believe that she, as a White female American is being given such a run for her money from a new kid on the block Black man and us because it is just what we do to our own. Barrack is one of the youngest people to ever vie for this esteemed position, true enough. This man is no lightweight. He graduated from harvard Law School #1 in his class. He had the American dream by the balls and he walked away to commit himself to doing something he loved, something he had a burning passion for. Aren't we yet tired of not knowing a "Good Thing" when it is staring us right in the face? Aren't we yet tired of not seeing the forrest for the trees. Will we not wake up before McCain is our next president?

Something that has been done to Michelle Obama in the last few weeks, as was done with her husband, is to target her as somehow less than being Patriotic because she has experienced being "Black in America".
As I remember the era of Clarence Thomas ascent to the Supreme Court, at that time voices were denigrating "that woman" Anita Hill. Where was Mrs. Clinton's feminist equality when that bad rap went down? It was questionable whether Thomas should even have been allowed to be named to the high bench; I had to give some benefit of the doubt to Anita Hill's experience, working "for the man". What stands out most of all in my mind was while Clarence Thomas quite naturally referred to "the high-tech lynching" taking place, Janet Reno was at this time of year in 1993 nominated to Attorney-General by Bill Clinton and confirmed on March 11th. Besides many otherwise commendable actions, Reno supervised the following Dept. of Justice actions: The month-long standoff and ensuing deaths of more than 80 men, women, and children--the Branch Davidians--in Waco, Texas. This was the deadliest government action taken against American citizens on U.S. soil since the Civil War.
Approximately 76 Branch Davidians, 21 of whom were children, were killed in the ensuing blaze. That's the way it is reported anyway: Siege takes place Feb.23,1993,yet Reno is not confirmed until March 11th. Far be it from me to claim to know all the fine points (but I do know that the B.D. were a breakaway group from the Seventh Day Adventists).
What does stand out,"Thomas was nominated by then-President George H.W. Bush to replace the retiring Justice Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American to be appointed to the United States Supreme Court."
Two years prior to the Clinton nomination of Reno to Dept. of Justice.
Here are the words of Anita Hill in regard to "the high-tech lynching" of Justice Clarence Thomas going through confirmation process (followed by "In 1991, public opinion polls showed that 47% of those polled believed Thomas, while 24% believed Hill. In 1992, a different poll had 44% believing Hill and only 34% believing Thomas.")--In an op-ed piece written by Anita Hill, appearing in the New York Times on October 2, 2007, Ms. Hill writes that she "will not stand by silently and allow [Justice Thomas], in his anger, to reinvent me."
She also said,(In 1998, Anita Hill penned her autobiography, Speaking Truth To Power.)
"I see ... the faces of these young people, and I see their hearts and that they really do want change, and that they deserve it,". She had served in the Reagan Administration, when GHW Bush was vice-president, because Clarence Thomas says that he got her the job in that administration which signifies that he too comes touched by those policies.
To my mind, he's no Thurgood Marshall; and I find that my mind at the time following the sexist dispute is conflated with the Conflagration in Texas.
These are just my thoughts on "the morning after" the Texas primary. Follow your own conscience on whether or not you stand by Michelle Obama's wait to be proud to be an American following those Bush,Clinton, and another Bush administration; do likewise for her husband Barack Obama who studied the Law carefully to meet the needs of the people.

OPEN LETTER
Dear Senator Obama:
I went to sleep before all of the votes were counted but woke up early to see the results. I must say that I, as an 71 yr. old American-American female, found the wins that Hillary Clinton captured very disappointing, and in fact, discouraging. Nevertheless, I am still praying that at the end of the day, you, Senator Obama, will capture the Democratic Party's nomination. There is no doubt in my mind that you are the TRUE champion for CHANGE in OUR United States of America -- our time has come and I believe that God is on our side, and that HE will guide you through the horrendous challenges you have yet to overcome.
My disappointment is felt not only because of Hillary Clinton's wins last night ,but also because of the fact that she is Bill Clinton's wife and he is the former US President; who by the way, so thoroughly disgraced THE WHITE HOUSE in the beginning of his first 4 yrs as President. In addition, I am disappointed and discouraged because of how Hillary' Clinton's and Bill Clinton's current underhanded political tricks has overshadowed how SHE managed to gain a seat in the New York State Senate in the first place as well as how SHE managed to win NYS in its 2008 Primary and other so called large State primaries -- it was NOT DUE TO HER EXPERIENCE, but instead, due to the loyalty that the minority communities in New York State provided her -- QUESTION: Why did the Clinton's leave Arkansa and take up residency in New York State?; and how was She able to win a NYS Senate seat so quickly after moving to NYS. AND, why is it that Mrs. Clinton declines every request to share her TAX RETURN? Whe, pray tell, will the media HOP ON THAT ISSUE regarding her creditability. Further, I am disappointed and discouraged because, in my opinion, HER wins are in no small part due to the backwards logic and loyalties still demonstrated by to many African-American elected officials and some others.
To coin three phrases:
1) "House Negro, Field Negro!"
2) "Colored Folks are like a barrel of crabs...!"
3) "Divide and Conquor!"
I am saddened also because of the negative message that yesterday's primaries sent to ALL YOUTH, particularly minority youth. I am a 71 yr. old African-American mother of 7 children, (4 males and 3 females), and I've been struggling throughout my entire adult life to maintain my own dignity and at the same time raise my 7 children to be responsible, honest -- respectful of others rights -- and always caring, decent individuals.
I pray that you win BIG in the upcoming primaries. I KNOW YOU WILL WIN IN THE GENERAL ELECTIONS!!!
God Bless you,
Marjorie R. White

Thanks Majorie # 14 for your letter to Sen. Obama I could not have said it better. Did you know that Rush Limbo, asked republicans to go out and vote for Hillary so they could keep the two candidates fighting and to help Hillary win, today on his radio show he said it worked and that he was very proud of what he did. Hillary is now planning a way to steal the election from Sen. Obama, she wants Florida and Michigan to have a do-over and she is also going to try to steal it with the super delegates. And to Lakeisha Jones, #1 2 and 3 JUST SHUT YOUR BIG MOUTH YOU ARE NOT ONLY STUPID BUT IGNORANT, IT IS BETTER TO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND BE THOUGHT OF AS A FOOL THAN TO OPEN YOUR BIG MOUTH AND PROVE IT. LAKEISHA, LET ME SAY THIS TO YOU, "IT IS OK TO COME ON IN OFF THE PLANTATION BABYGIRL AND JUST ACCEPT THE FACT THAT THE MASTA DONE SET YOU FREE." Omaha Ne. Patricia

PUH-leeze get a reality check in regards to such as how is now spun that Michelle O was insulting to USA stating how first ime in adult life found something to be be proud about ...How dense do so many NEED to be to NOT comprehend the fuller context of what she was proclaiming..That many of us had grown so cynical and accepted the status quo and figured so much BUT AN ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE DREAM and yet in our here and now, we were making a great show that there IS the opportunity to move forward and achieve racial pariety that helps to fulfill a quest that seemed to have drifted into a limbo and lacked committement to even think achievable...Still a long way to go , OBVIOUSLY !!!

Personally I believe OBAMA is the best candidate. When will America wake up and stop thinking only the BLONDE HAIR BLUE EYE can save this nation...wasn't Dr. Ralph Bunch who invented the heart transplant...when will American stop looking to whites to lead this nation....all people of all colors should be able to lead this nation...those that do not vote for President OBAMA should be ashamed...Hillary has used tactics to demean him in public as no more than a black pickin cotton slave from the fields of Africa... THIS IS A HARVARD UNIVERSITY GRADUATE...THE FACTS ARE THAT SHE AND CLINTON HAD NO EXPERIENCE...AND WILL STILL NOT HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE...THE ACTS THAT WERE COMMITTED IN THE WHITE HOUSE WERE A DISGRACE...HERE IS A COUPLE THAT STANDS FOR FAMILIES, SINGELS AND EVERYONE...we are 7 trillon dollars in debt... All this about abortion is just an excuse...do what you want to do...WE AS A NATION CONTINUE TO BE IN RACIAL DISHARMONY BECAUSE WE ARE TOO FOOLISH TO BELIEVE IN OURSELVES...STOP LETTING THEM FOOL YOU.. HILLARY CLINTON NEVER WILL PASS UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE SHE HAD 8 YEARS ALREADY TO DO THIS...WAKE UP...I STUDY FOREIGN POLICY...WAKE UP PEOPLE...LET STOP THE WAR LETS...GET RACIAL HARMONY FOR THIS NATION DO YOU THINK HILLARY IS GOING TO CHANGE THE RACE CARD THAT MANY AFRICAN AMERICANS ARE CONFRONTED WITH...NO ...AND IF YOU THINK SO...YOU NEED A SERIOUS CHECK UP...VOTE OBAMA...THIS MESSAGE IS FOR THE 52 STATES...VOTE OBAMA AND LET THIS NATION SURVIVE....

MICHELLE OBAMA IS RIGHT TO EXPRESS HER OPINION...WHAT DID HILLARY DO...READ THE PAPERS SHE FIRED ALL HER STAFF AND PUT A BLACK TOKEN IN TO GET THE VOTE...HER CAMPAIGN IS PHONY...AND NOT REAL...JUST AS PHONY AS HER RELATIONSHIP WITH SHE AND BILL...WE ARE WE ALL AS A PEOPLE GOING TO BE PROUD THAT AMERICA IS A TRUE DEMOCRACY...WITH REGARDLESS OF RACES. AND COLOR...THOSE WERE RACIST STATES THAT WON THE VOTE OF HILLARY...BUT HILLARY WILL CONTINUE TO USE CHILDISH AND DEMEANING TACTICS...WAKE UP THIS IS POLITICS......THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I AM PROUD THAT A DECENT BLACK MAN STEP FORWARD OTHER THAN THE PHONEY REVERENDS RUNNING AND ATTENDING PLAYBOY EVENTS... LETS GET WITH THE PROGRAM...IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU IT IS ABOUT MAKING A CHANGE IN THIS NATION...IT TIME FOR ME TO TALK..TAVIS IS SUPPORTING HILLARY BECAUSE OF HIS CAMPAIGN...HE IS SELFISH HE STARTED OUT WITH 18 BRO AND SISTERS. AND SOMEBODY GAVE HIM A START...WAKE UP PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD..WAKE UP CHINESE, SPANISH, AFRICANS...VOTE OBAMA.. DO YOU REALLY THINK HILLARY IS GOING TO DO ANYTHING FOR YOU AND IF SO WHAT DID THEY DO FOR 8 YEARS IN THE WHITE HOUSE...NOTHING...THE HOUSE AND SENATE MAKE THE FINAL DECISION.....

Baron, you cannot speak for all African Americans when you say we support and supported Clarance Thomas, are you for real?? The White Republican used him to represent and say " here you are, your Black face and guess what? He added something to the book, he is responsible for preventing sex harassment in the workplace. But, he still keeps his job." That would be like all of the great work Denzel Washington and Halle Berry, oh yeah, The Legendary Ruby Dee have done, they got awards for ones that White Americans felt was deserving to mock the Blacks. To say, " you wanted them to have an Oscar, so deal with."But, they still cannot take away their greatness. Clarance Thomas on the other hand, is their "Do Boy". I have no respect for. OJ, is someone that most Blacks do not even get off into. The beginning, was not fair to speculate when there are cases where it was facts, and not this sort of coverage. White Americans trip about OJ, not the majority of Blacks. Do not insult the Black Race as to say as the Whites has, that if we support Obama we are like some sort of cult. As though we are too ignorant to research and know that the person we support deserves just that, our support. Not because he is a Black man, but an intelligent, a good man and the best candidate for the job!

As a McCain supporter, it was nothing less than excitement and thrill for me watching the results of Tuesday night's primaries roll in.Is it possible that this is the first time the spoiler of an election was a member of the same party. My happy feelings were solely due to the sheer whipping that Senator Clinton handed down to Senator Obama.(Republican supporters laughing and rejoicing).
This is the thing that I am so afraid of, a house divided. We as AfricanAmerican Democrat better find a way to get it together or the Republicans will be back running the White House another four years with the bickering, backstabbing, from The Clinton and some of our own!!

Its a breath of fresh air to hear some positive comments regarding Obama in this campaign. Im saddened for the black people who dont see what an opportunity this is to finally unite on something.
Lets not be distracted from the reality of this election.
Stay positive and we will prevail over the negativity.
