If someone ever steals your cell phone do what 16-year-old Yudelka Polanco did: go on MySpace and track them down, CSI style.Our friends over at Switched.com found this tale of a typical Brooklyn mugging with a happy ending.
So, Polanco got a brand new cell a couple weeks ago when she was mugged for it just a couple days later.
When she got a replacement, she realized the person who jacked her used her old phone with its SIM card. That's that little chip that identifies the phone as hers and stores her numbers. When she activated her new phone the thief's online activity and e-mail address showed up.
Well, well ...
She searched for the mugger's e-mail address on MySpace and got a hit, according to wcbstv.com.
But, the profile was private, so she got a friend to chat him up and get added to his friend's list. That was enough for the police to cuff 16-year-old Victor Hernandez for the crime.
Police are saying not only did Hernandez steal Polanco's cell phone, but they also believe he is part of a gang that attacked two men at a Williamsburg restaurant four days after the mugging, CBS in New York reported.
Polanco had this to say to the thief:
"You're stupid because you thought you were slick to steal a phone, and he actually signed on. That was a stupid thing to do," she told CBS in New York.

Good for her!! That was very smart of her to think of that. Teens are much more savvy with the new technology than we are I suppose. I'm not sure I would have thought of that.

IM GLAD THEY CAUGHT THIS PUNK.I WAS ROBBED RIGHT OUTSIDE MY HOME AT GUN POINT 2 YEARS AGO BY TWO TEENS WHO WERE ABOUT 5 FOOT 2 APIECE.THE CRIME RATE HAS NEVER BEEN SO HIGH AND MOST OF IT GOES UN REPORTED.WE NEED TO RESTORE ORDER IN THIS COUNTRY AND STOP WORRYING BOUT FORIEGN PROBLEMS SO MUCH.

Smart young lady. For the person who asked about the SIMS card, she didn't have the SIMS card she was able to get the information from her old SIMS card and get her last transactions being used on that SIMS card. Nobody says thiefs are smart. I bet he's a drop pout too. He should have stayed in school. As I said before Smart young lady.
