"The fact is that the comments that have been made and the issues that have surfaced over the last few weeks reflect the complexities of race in this country that we've never really worked through - a part of our union that we have yet to perfect."
Sure, progress has been made but there are racial disparities in access to traditional home mortgages, health care and quality education. The black unemployment rate is twice that of whites and one in nine black men between the ages of 20 and 34 is behind bars.
In an eloquent and wide-ranging speech, Obama used this teachable moment to contextualize the anger and resentments on both sides of the racial divide. "But race is an issue that I believe this nation cannot afford to ignore right now. We would be making the same mistake that Reverend Wright made in his offending sermons about America - to simplify and stereotype and amplify the negative to the point that it distorts reality."
And because race matters, "if we walk away now, if we simply retreat into our respective corners, we will never be able to come together and solve challenges like health care, or education, or the need to find good jobs for every American."While Obama "condemned, in unequivocal terms, the statements of Reverend Wright," he refused to "disown" him. That refusal, coupled with the "constant loop" of Wright's sermons, will make it hard to "get beyond our racial divisions."
Only time will tell whether voters will embrace Obama's candidacy to send the message: "Not this time." A CBS poll found that among voters who heard about the controversy, 30 percent "said it made them have a less favorable view" of Obama.
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is riding high. The latest Quinnipiac poll shows "momentum in the Pennsylvania Democratic primary battle has shifted back" to Clinton, who now leads Obama 53 percent to 41 percent among likely primary voters. Whites back Clinton 61 percent to 33 percent, and blacks favor Obama 76 percent to 18 percent.

If you are so concerned about Obama's relion before he became a Christian why don't you request that information from The Departmen of Internal Security or the FBI. You are demonstrating exactly how IGNORANT you really are. A fool knows that anyone employed by the federal government or even local for that matter is thoroughly investigated. You must have the IQ of an ant to not know this and to ask such a stupid question. He was never Muslim if that is what you are trying to find out. If he were...SO WHAT! You are the kind of person America needs to rid from its population. You are the kind of person whose ideology destroys this great land of the free.

barack obama is a great man. he is very honest. he cares for all americans. he will unite and bring an end to the war. and we will have peace by the end of his term. he has shown that he can lead americans. it is unreal how some would try to accuse him of things. the debate the other night was a sick move by charlie and george. hillary is not a good person. its like shove the knife and give it a good twist. why do some people seem to disown when the going gets hard? obama has has great character that i admire. makes hillary look sad. nafta, partial birth abortion has to be the most hateful act that anyone can imagine. if hillary is so religious why did she not tell bill wrong, wrong. to make a healthy baby die is so sinful that it brakes your heart. i do believe that hillary will never fix nafta. once she is in all will be forgotten. to amass $109 million dollars must have been a feat. i don't belive it was from speaking. it seemed as though times were great in his administration, until you think of all the selling out of the american people. contential treaty was about to be. another one of the clintons. we must do away with predigous. i do believe there are a lot of sheets and hats in closets. i think i can name a few that would wear them. god bless obama and protect him from evil all around him.

The white media clearly hates Obama. I can see the seething hatred in there eyes and I hear it in their voices. They have taken almost every word that came from his mouth and made it seam like he was saying someting else. And they are tring to brain wash people minds against Obama. Some people I spoke to are afraid to vote for Obama now, for fear of assassination. Look how many times it happened before when it was for the uniting of people as one. Remember Abe Lincoln, Martin Lutter King, the Kennedy's. White people will never follow a black man. My white gramdmother told my father that. Martin Luther king's dream is still just a dream. If Obama is chosen I will pray real hard for him that God would keep him and his family.
