The story has tons more detail including one of the main witnesses, Jean Nelson, giving testimony that corroborates the defense of three police detectives accused of shooting bell to death; how Bell's autopsy revealed that his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit to drive. The case is getting deeper as it goes on this week with more witnesses. ...
The testimony of Det. Gescard Isnora, may or may not turn the trial one way or the other. He said he shouted "police!" several times, but the prosecution argues that nobody ever identified themselves as cops. This Times article from a few days ago details the testimony and even offers a .pdf on what he said.
But this video details a radio transmission released by the New York Police Department with Det. Michael Oliver, who fired 31 of the 50 bullets fired at Bell. It shows that he radioed his fellow officers that shots were being fired and that he was calling for backup.
This is not going to get any less confusing as the testimonies continue. The question I haven't heard answered though, and it may well be very soon, is: how much time alloted between the time you thought a passenger in Bell's car had a gun and when you started firing.
To me, that would make the trial open and shut. And maybe one way or the other, justice can be meted out swiftly.
Of the 50 caps the cops unloaded that night, 16 of them hit Joseph Guzman. Bell's friend testified this week. Four bullets are still in this guy's body.
"This dude is shooting like he's crazy, like he's out of his mind," Guzman testified at the trial of three undercover officers.
Guzman was quarrelsome, according to news reports, telling lawyers "You didn't do your homework."

We need more fairness in the US judicial system for African-American victims as well as low income defendents.

TO ALL THOSE POLICE OFFICERS WHO DELIBRATELY KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE DUE TO THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN OR SIMPLY FOR THE THRILL,REMEMBER YOU HAVE TO ANSWER TO GOD.
HOW DO YOU ALL SLEEP WHEN THE NIGHT COME.
BEING A COP DOES HAS POSITIVE AND MOSTLY NEGATIVE LIMITS.
MAINLY IF YOU ARE A BLACK CITIZEN AND THEY TARGET YOU BASED ON YOUR SKIN COLOR NOT WHOM YOU ARE.
SHAME,SHAME,SHAME.
MY PRAYERS FOR THE BELL FAMILIES AND ALL WHO WRE AFFECTED BY THIS TERRIBLE AND SINFUL ORDEAL.
THESE COPS KNOWS WHAT THEY HAVE DONE.
NOW JUSITCE SHALL BE SERVED.
CORRUPT COPS INDEED.
YOU GAVE INNOCENT COPS A BAD NAME.
SINFUL CREATURES.

This is an open and shut case. You have some guys at a bachelor party acting stupid - they're drunk and saying stupid things. Next thing you know, 50 shots are fired upon unarmed guys. Seems like there was too much testosterone and macho rage from the cops and no regard for human life. Come on. Fifty shots? Were these terrorists with explosives? What was the dialogue like before the first shots were fired? Where's the "Please exit the vehicle or shots will be fired?" If you're an officer, and you're afraid for your life, seek cover- what was the threat? No regard for human life.

Dialo all over again we know its bad, the whole world hears about it yet black on black crime is still rising ,what a dam shame and we say its racism out there. yet we see the guns everwhere, in life in music, in wars when are we ever going to learn ? that these are crimes against humanity.justice is blind and will be, until we wake up and start seeing our own demise.and start to realize that could happen to me or my loved ones. peace

So typical of the mentality of New Yorkers they are
barbaric and animalistic, and the police force are
the most racist in the country. What would you expect with that "Kelly" at the helm. This would not happen in California ever again! I can't wait to get out of this filthy, dirty, small minded environment!

O.k. being over the legal drinking limit justifies being shot 50 times?!!!! This trial is not getting complicated, it's getting stupid. Bachelor parties have drunk men saying stupid things, so what? That doesn't mean that a group of police officers should shoot men walking out of a club and taking their lives.
