PREVIOUS: The "Great Mentioner" in the John McCain vice presidential sweepstakes has spoken. According to Dan Senor, former spokesman for the Iraq Coalition Provisional Authority, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice wants her name included in the mix.
On ABC's "This Week," Senor spilled the beans:Condi Rice has been actively, actually in recent weeks, campaigning for this. There's this ritual in Washington: The Americans for Tax Reform, which is headed by Grover Norquist, he holds a weekly meeting of conservative leaders -- about 100, 150 people, sort of inside, chattering, class types. They all typically get briefings from political conservative leaders. Ten days ago, they had an interesting visit -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice -- the first time a secretary of state has visited the Wednesday meeting.
In my past life as a Republican activist, I was part of that weekly ritual. It's ironic that Rice would state her case before Grover given his role in mobilizing opposition to her predecessor, Colin Powell. In 1995, Grover, Pat Buchanan and other conservative leaders held a news conference and told Powell: Don't even think about running for President.
In any case, no one mentioned Rice's availability to McCain:
I missed those signals. I think she's a great American, I think there's very little that I can say that isn't anything but the utmost praise for a great American citizen, who served as a role model to so many millions of people in this country and around the world. While she may be "a great American," Rice would give McCain some help that he doesn't need. CNN senior political analyst Bill Schneider observed:
I think it would be very difficult move for John McCain to make because it instantly fulfills exactly the argument that Democrats are presenting, that if you elect John McCain, what you're going to get is a third term of George W. Bush...Is that what he wants to run on?

One thing about Republicans is they are predictable and they honor their elder statesmen. This is a group that gives people their turn and now it's McCain's turn. How many people have argued that the VP selection is unimportant? McCain is walking a tight rope. If he takes Condi, then it's a 3rd Bush term and he gets beat for not being himself. The man didn't want to take secret service protection and putting Condi on his ticket puts his at risk by those who want a real Bush third term. America wants change. McCain's only hope for changing to him is his integrity. Condi lacks integrity. She's a woman and she's black, but in the Republican ranks that gets you a job that enters from the rear. McCain's only chance is "Strong on War." His weakness is "He's old, angry, forgetful, and he flips." Unless the VP is a Tommy Franks, Petraus, Schwartzkoff, or Powell it really doesn't add to McCain's strategy. Condi is no General. Liz Dole is an outside shot if he goes for a likable woman.

People should be very afraid of Condi. Minorities, of any kind, will get more empathy and compassion from David Dukes or the Aryan Brotherhood. She has no use for people who are not rich and powerful(preferably White) and who can help achieve her agenda. She has always attached herself to powerful White men from Dr. Korbel in Denver to George Schultz to Brent Scowcraft and on and on through the Bushes. She is a female Clarence Thomas only more deadly. Her only connection to Black America is the fact that she lived in Birmingham, but she lived a parallel existence in a family that celebrated its "Italian ancestory". Thomas at least knows what it means to be poor and to struggle to achieve your goals; she hasn't a clue and doesn't care.
I commend her for her hard work and tenacity but that woman has no soul. I appreciate that she learned to work the "Ol Boy" network, but she like Thomas is dedicated to maintaining her own status. She will "help" people as long as it is not into her circle. She enjoys being the "only" and works hard to maintain that status.
Please read at least one of her biographies, the one by E. Bumiller is the best. The woman is blood chilling. She will make Stalin and Hitler look like gradeschoolers.
The only thing Black about her is her color. While I agree that people should stand on their own and achieve to the best of their ability, this woman cares for no one and will not even try to even the playing field.
Having her any closer to the Presidency is a very bone chilling thought and I hope that it does not happen because it will be sad day for everyone.

This does not surprise me, Republicans always have tricks up there sleeves. When Barack was running for Senate, who did was thrown in the race on the Republican side but Allen Keys, whom is black. I guess they figured he could pull some of the votes away for Barack and the Republicans would win the state and keep the senate. This too is their trickery. What will happen is that Condi gets in on the ticket, she can pull some of the black vote and when Hiliary loses, she will also pull the female vote so. The woman is talented but the woman is setting herself up for danger. Look at Colin Powell he knew what was up, that is why he bounced. She needs to do the same.

I believe Condi is the best hope for a McCain victory and the only reason Democrats are vilifying her is because they are afraid of her. She is a winner; always has been. I believe she would make an excellent VP and the reference to a third "Bush" term in the presidency strikes me as a desperate attempt from Democrats to incite fear and mistrust in people. If Condi is anything, she is her own person and has her own mind. It doesn't matter who the Republican candidates are the Democrats will cry and moan, as usual, and find something negative to say about them.

I wouldn't vote for her no matter what. She is a part of the Bush regime.

FIRST, Condoleezza Rice is NOT running for VP with McCain! She gave a press confrence on Tuesday and denounced the rumors about her running for Republican VP. Honestly, Condi knows better and she has had enough of Bush to ever consider to run for VP.
SECOND, Are you kidding me... African Americans could care less if Condoleezza Rice ran for VP! The majority of African Americans STILL would NOT vote for her. That just lets everyone know that African Americans are not blinded by color... we make decisions based upon facts and record. Ms. Condi Rice has the worst record of progress I've ever seen and I would never vote for that racist McCain just because Condi would be by his side!
****ABSOLUTELY NOT****

Ellie, Nice post and maybe, just maybe because Condi did partner with successful white men she is now extremely successful. We make choices in life and given the choice of black leaders, Sharpton, Jesse, Hussein Obama, or white men Dr. Korbel in Denver to George Schultz to Brent Scowcraft, looks like she made the right decision. She's hot, she's smart, she's successful,,,, in fact she is everything most african americans aren't...........

Well Buck if thats your real name your comments make in obvious that you put the C in cracker. Condi Rice is as opportunistic as you are an idiot. Which is why her African American heritage cant be used to get African American votes. You see we arent as simple as Klan baked fools like you, the forrest can be seen for the trees and no ones being fooled by any African American man or woman whos forgotten that good white men in the past often hung strange fruit from those same trees. Have a blast at your next cross burning bag head.
