Chris Rock and the Private Snoop, Not Funny

Comments (6)

Whoa!

Now what has the world come to when the king of smart-ass comedy has to hire an allegedly crooked private eye to ward off baby mama drama?

According to EURWeb, Chirs Rock recently took the witness stand in the trial of Anthony Pelicano who is facing charges in wiretapping and spying on a host of A-list celebrities. A Beverly Hills cop (no fool, not Eddie Murphy) later testified that Pelicano paid him $10,000 to access criminal records.

Okay, here's the thing about this ... Rock was not even funny on the witness stand. There was nothing funny in any of the online articles I read about this case. This isn't even news worth your time and does not in any way enhance or enrich your body of knowledge. So I don't care, and neither should you.

The accused private dick pleaded not guilty to the illegal surveillance.

Rock hired Pellicano when a woman named Monica Zsibrita claimed she was pregnant with his child. DNA tests proved that this lady was just another Billie Jean. But the charge against Pellicano alleges that got unauthorized DMV information on the woman after she tried to yoke Rock up for some babydaddy loot.

The story twists a lot after this, and has little to do with Rock at all, except that he says he felt "shaken down" by Pellicano. But it also brought back dirt on Rock who is supposed to have met Zsibrita while he was separated from his wife, yadda-yadda-yadda.

The only real moral to this story is that journalists sometimes write articles and blog entries (that'd be me) about celebrities just because they are celebrities, not because you could really give a sh** about what's going on in their lives. The real story is not about Rock, but about Pellicano and the dirty cops he had working to get dirt for him. Now if Chris Rock were not involved in this, would you really be concerned about some P.I. named Pellicano?

Despite that, there is seemingly no end to the number of websites, webzines and blogs dedicated to pointless celebrity nonsense and they feel you have a need to know who's doing whom, which super rich Hollywood nut is on dope and which one is having surgery.

Okay, enough of my venting. But before my editors kill me for even writing this, you should know that the news industry is dying because it is being dumbed down so much. It is up to you, the reader, to save it and bring back useful journalism.
