The Democratic nomination battle is down to 10 contests. This election cycle has been a dream for voting rights activists. From coast-to-coast, Americans have registered and turned out to vote in record numbers. To their credit, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have motivated millions of new voters to participate in the electoral process.
African Americans and young voters have fueled Obama's lead in the popular vote and pledged delegate count. According to the Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning & Engagement, youth turnout has tripled or quadrupled in some states. Young voters' influence extends beyond the polling booth as they persuade their mama (and poppa) to vote for Obama. At the same time, the primary election season has been a nightmare. In appearances before the House Administration Committee, representatives of the Election Protection Coalition, including Tom Joyner, host of "The Tom Joyner Morning Show," and Greg Moore of the NAACP National Voter Fund, testified about voting irregularities in the presidential primaries and caucuses.
To date, nearly 70,000 voters have reported problems. Joyner testified:
Depending on the state you're in the reason for the delay is that there aren't enough machines, there isn't enough manpower, there aren't enough I.D. verification machines or they have run out of ballots. You want to wait in line until the problems are fixed but if you do, there's no way that you will make it to work on time.Thomas Jefferson said: "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." During my recent visit to the National Civil Rights Museum, I was reminded of the role that Freedom Schools played in educating black Mississippians about the voting process. A copy of "Freedom Primer No. 2: The Freedom Vote and the Right to Vote (1964)" is on display.
Museum visitors are invited to spin a wheel to see whether they would get a chance to register to vote. With millions of new and infrequent voters expected to show up in November, it must not be left to chance whether their vote will be counted. Voter education must remain a priority lest history repeats itself.

Rainman before you utter more ignorance, you need to get your facts straight. The real issue was over states rights.

i think it's real funny when blacks are called "racist". After all the lynchings, cross burning, mutilations, church burnings and just plain old murder based on our skin color; some of you tend to forget what we had to endure ever since we came in contact with white people. And now that the world is moving in a progressive upward mode some of you all would love to see a return to the old ways? Forget it. America is a multicultural country made up of a beautiful mosaic of people from all over the world. If your little corner of this country is lost in the shuffle, you need to change your way of thinking and join the rest of the human race.

I have but one thing to say to white folks,be careful of stepping on blacks and hispanics because whether Obama gets elected or not,WHITE FOLKs are rapidly becoming the minority,a place they dont wanna be.The way whites are breeding with other races is doing you in and believe me most whites that are married to and co-habitating with minorities are in support of Obama, not because he is black but because they have a more open minded view from first hand experience where he is coming from and he represents the interest of their bi-racial children who are often referred to as black because of the racist theory of one drop of black blood.Isn't that great news.

I wouldn't care if Obama was green with purple stripes. He talks on the people's level. Why is it that whites think they know what is best for people. They try to go to Iraq and changed their way of living. Now they have this country trillions of dollars in the hole and China owns this country. The very ones that sit here and talk about what a great job they have done for people won't pick up arms and go and fight. These are the same people that say republicans are the only ones fighting in Iraq. They talk about how people would be if they didn't step in, they would be just fine living their cultures. They speak about freeing slaves if they had left them in their own counrty then you wouldn't have to free them. They talk about their own people saleing them into slavery, if they had stay in their own country this wouldn't have happened. You see you haven't done anything great but cause alot of problems and brought this country to it's knees. I don't see what the problem is voting for a black when we have dealt with the crooked whites for decades. Or is the real problem all of the dirt you have done as a people you are afraid that it may come back on you. The sad thing is you live 400 years ago, I don't have a problem with color just the idoit that wears it to push their ways on my space.

I like to say, I "APPLAUD" the young youth, that are voting now and going to house to house to get people to VOTE! I am "HAPPY" that everyone is getting out to vote! A lot of times, people stay away from the polls because they don't feel that their vote won't count? Wrong, everybody's vote counts! This is "CRITICAL"! THIS IS ALSO, HISTORY!
I can't wait, to cast my vote in the primary's in the "BURGH" APRIL, 22! I love to sport that "BARACK THE VOTE" hooded sweatshirt. EVERYBODY GET OUT AND VOTE!
