It seems that the controversy swirling around Barack Obama's former pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright just won't end.
In the May 12th issue of 'Newsweek' magazine, the focus has turned from the Democratic presidential candidate to talk show Queen Oprah Winfrey. It would appear that while Winfrey has parlayed her gift of gab into a lucrative empire, she didn't appreciate the inflammatory tone of Rev. Wright's speech while she attended his church.
Winfrey, a transplant to
But it only took Winfrey two years to pull up stakes, only attending services there infrequently until the mid 1990's.
So what cooled her warm and fuzzy feeling? According to the article, written by Allison Samuel, it was Wright and organized religion that made Winfrey weary.
And while Wright has gone on media blitz blasting his former high profile parishioner, Barack Obama, he remains oddly numb on Winfrey. She turned her back on the church too. She seems to have disagreed with his message, so why the silence when it comes to her?
Perhaps Wright realizes that he captures more of the spotlight by hurting the presidential aspirations of the only African American to come eerily close to the White House. Maybe, he suffers from the "crab in the barrel" syndrome, where it is easy for him to think nothing of trying to hold a black man down if it means getting his own day in the sun. Or, maybe he is enthralled by having his largest audience ever. Finally, it could simply be that Wright is glad that he gets to share his thoughts with the white media over issues that have haunted him for decades.
Whatever the reasons, it is clear that Winfrey determined that she was getting the wrong message from Wright and the church during her years there. She was smart enough to cut her ties before they could become the ties that bound her career. Unfortunately, it took Obama too long to see the difference. One can only hope he can shake the Wright shadow and take the right message with him to the White House.

Rev Wright is speaking the truth that Americans don't want to hear. The rub is that he is speaking out in a time when the spotlight should not be centered on him. He needs to let the election runs its course and understand the bigger picture, the election of the first black president. I understand that Wright wants to defend himself from the media that has spun his sermons in a negative light, however it is not about him. Wright needs to be quiet and allow Obama to run his campaign.

What truth is it that America does not want to hear, Concerned?
Rev. Wright is no more truthful than a loud mouth bigoted KKK leader. Just because Rev. Wright absolves you and the black community of any accountability for your failure to grab the America dream you feel he speaks the truth.
This bigoted forum is so predictable just as the hate spewed on any KKK website. Just because the colors are reversed does not take away the fact that both sites want to blame someone else or some other group for their lack of standing in life.
The only racist bigots I see in America is the blacks that want to spew hate towards whites, hispanics etc. How could America be so racist and Obama, even after being outed as attending a hate filled church, having a chance to become president? You bigots can not have it both ways.
When Obama wins the presidency who will you bigots blame then? I am going to love the fact that I can shove his presidency in the face of any fool that wants to blame racist America for any short coming that may befall a black individual. That race card is almost worn out.

Rev. Wright is not Obama's problem. The news media is Obama's problem. Rev. Wright did what he had to do. He is a pastor. Pastors speak truth to power. I guess Obama did what he needed to do. It is so sad he had to denounce his former pastor.

Funny this article has no direct quotes from Oprah in it... Sounds like people are put words in her mouth that she never spoke, and thoughts in her head that nobody can confirm she ever thought.....

REV. JEREMIAH WRIGHT SAYS THAT HE SPEAKS FOR THE BLACK CHURCH AND I TAKE THAT TO MEAN THAT HE FEELS EVERY BLACK CHURCH IN AMERICA AGREES WITH HIM. THIS IS A LIE! SOMETIMES IT'S NOT WHAT YOU SAY BUT HOW YOU SAY IT AND WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE IN HEART IN DOING SO IN THE FIRST PLACE. HE IS VERY SELF-SERVING. HE WENT INTO HIDING BECAUSE OF DEATH THREATS BUT I QUESTION WHY DID HE COME BACK OUT IN PUBLIC ONLY A WEEK OR SO BEFORE THE LAST PRIMARIES (INDIANA AND NORTH CAROLINA) TO RUN HIS MOUTH AGAIN AND GO NEGATIVE ON BARACK. I UNDERSTAND WHY OPRAH LEFT HIS CHURCH BECAUSE I KNOW SHE IS TOO INTELLIGENT TO BE WASTING HER TIME AND I'M SURE SHE HAS PLENTY OF OTHER CONSTRUCTIVE THINGS THAT SHE COULD BE DOING. HE IS CERTAINLY NOBODY I WOULD EVER SIT UP AND LISTEN TO AND I HAVE THE UTMOST RESPECT FOR PREACHERS BECAUSE MY FATHER WAS A PREACHER. I WISH BARACK GODSPEED AND PRAY THAT HE BECOMES THE NEXT PRESIDENT BECAUSE HE CERTAINLY HAS EARNED IT. AND I HOPE THAT PEOPLE WILL CONTINUE TO REALIZE THAT REV. WRIGHT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS OWN BIG MOUTH AND THAT EVERY BLACK PERSON DOES NOT AGREE WITH HIM AND THAT BARACK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS IDIOTIC RHETORIC.

Any time is the Wright time for the truth to be told. Don't remain in hell because of the sin of silence. Had people had the heart to oppose George Bush's Weapons of Mass Destruction lie, many soldiers and countless civilians would still be alive. History is replete with the diasters of those who have failed to tell the truth at critical times.
If Obama gets elected by neglecting and/or denying America's sins, then that the way it is! We have been denied and overlooked throughout American History!

Blacks4Barack Launches:
The HILLARY
"STEP DOWN
WITH GRACE"
CAMPAIGN
Following N. Carolina and Indiana, it has become obvious that there is absolutely no way Hillary Clinton can win the Democratic nomination. With 6 primaries remaining it is impossible for her to catch Obama in the delegate count, number of states won or even the popular vote, so the bottom line is she must face the fact that OBAMA HAS WON ! Hillary's staying in the race is extremely harmful to the Democratic Party.....therefore....
Contact the DNC to let
Howard Dean know that we
feel that Hillary should step
down in a respectful manner
since she is obvously not going
to win the nomination (without cheating....which will not be tolerated)
This would be the right gesture for her political future as well as the right gesture for the Democratic Party. Just Call The DNC at
(202)863-8000
.....respectfully request
the DNC to ask Hillary to step-down NOW ! Then it will be time to concentrate
on The Re-Birth Of America !

Rev Wright have a right to speak and say what he feels but i believe he onsidered himself a friend to Mr obama and with that you would think he would keep his mouth shut until after the elections we over or even consider what he say to the media how will it affect Mr Obama it very clear that he didn't think at all.

I agree 100% with Concerned (#1)! Rev Wright speaks truth, just at the wrong time. He is not racist. Some people just can't handle the truth, and unfortunately, with the media's help, some of us have been persuaded that he and President Obama are racists. Let's focus on the issues and not media distractions.
