So this is on the record. It's not a hoax, like the Klan's fictional support of Barack Obama we saw earlier this year.
Apologetic KKK alumni Sen. Robert Byrd has endorsed Barack Obama, saying:
I believe that Barack Obama is a shining young statesman, who possesses the personal temperament and courage necessary to extricate our country from this costly misadventure in Iraq, and to lead our nation at this challenging time in history.
Byrd has long since apologized -- and been forgiven -- for his past membership in the Ku Klux Klan and opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act. But, how one "apologizes" for being a recovering racist and member of an American terrorist organization is beyond understanding. Obama's cool with it. So there you have it.
Indeed, armed with a letter signed by Obama, Moveon.org Political Action Committee was the top contributor to Byrd's 2006 reelection campaign. Politics does indeed make strange bedfellows.
In his announcement, Byrd pointedly made note that Obama is a "noble-hearted patriot and humble Christian." This will help lay to rest rumors that Obama is a Muslim. Additionally, Byrd's endorsement should help Obama pull some additional votes in today's primary in Kentucky, which borders West Virginia.
Obama will need all the help he can get in the Bluegrass State, where Hillary Clinton has a commanding lead. He attributes his expected loss to FOX News and a misinformation campaign:
Part of it is because there have been these e-mails that have been sent out very systematically, presumably by various political opponents, although I don't know who. And there are a lot of voters who get their news from Fox News. Fox has been pumping up rumors about my religious beliefs or my patriotism or what have you since the beginning of the campaign.Obama will likely swing and miss in the home of the Louisville Slugger, he is expected to hit a homerun in Oregon, where 75,000 turned out for a campaign rally at Portland's Waterfront Park. Byrd gets zero credit for this.
Another primary day, another split decision.

We need to know & understand that there are STILL some
"ROYALIST" among US who are committed to UNDOING all
that "THE FOUNDING FATHERS" espoused in their docu-
ments for forming "Government" as it had NEVER existed
before!Somewhere, back in 1776,someone was laughing at
THE OVERT HYPOCRISY of individuals like Jefferson,Wash
ington,& Franklin who espoused SOCIETAL POLITICAL IDEALS that were BLATANTLY contradicted by THEIR cru-el,brutal,& merciless treatment of MEN & WOMEN of AFRICAN descent under The Oppressive Boot of CHATTEL SLAVERY!The BUSHES are "ROYALISTS" committed to the perpetuation of THEIR privileged position as"THE WEAL-
THY RULERS of THE WORLD" who financed the discovery, the explorations,& the settlements of this country!ALL
the PROFIT from The Amerikkka of the past 200+ yrs has
been extracted by those who have had UNRESTRICTED & UN
RESTRAINED access to GOVT.MONIES for all this time!

You don't give anyone the opportunity to listen, hear or understand the truth. In fact most of the time you don't want to listen or hear what anyone else has to say either. Everyone has their own opinions and ideas, but that does not make them a racist. Just because someone does not agree with you does not make them a racist. Obama denounced his white side, so that does make him black, and if you didn't know that, you need to read his books.
-------------------------------------------------
Ms. Unique said.......The KKK my dear is a HATERED, IGNORANT, EVIL, and RACIST ORGANIZATION! The NAACP ensures the political, educational, social, and economic EQUALITY RIGHTS OF ALL PERSONS and to ELIMINATE RACIAL HATRED and RACIAL DISCRIMINATIONS!
---------------------------------------------------
As far as the black kkk (naacp), it is not for equality of everyone, it is the equailty of one race and that is the black race. When was the last time that the black kkk (naccp) came to a white person's rescue of racism or misfortune. Never, that I heard of, unless you know something that the rest of the white community doesn't know. And I am not talking about mexicans, asians either. I am talking about them helping someone who is white. I also don't see any white people on the black kkk (naccp) web site either. We also don't see a white person working for the naacp. So, don't go around and tell other races that the black kkk (naacp) is for all races, because the truth is, is that they are only for the blacks. I might not know a lot and have my facts wrong sometimes, but at least I will admit it. And I know that the white community is not wrong about the black kkk (naacp).

June, please stop calling the NAACP the "black kkk"... The KKK killed, lynched and treated entire raceS (plural because their hatred was not limited to one particular race) horrifically- The NAACP does not kill people, but I agree it does not represent everyone fairly... not even all people of color. You can joke around and call it the National Advancement of CERTAIN People but never liken it to the KKK- that's going a bit too far

they earned the right when they were founded... and to their credit, they helped to further advancement in the early part of this century, the problem is the organization just hasn't evolved since then as well as a lot of things that are skewed towards one race or another... I think you're missing the point of the whole meaning of this endorsement. It's not to highlight the fact that these organizations have an irrelevant influence but that we can rise above all that we've had to endure and make proper judgments despite our former beliefs. Plus there's still a lot that the NAACP does with it's local chapters (not nationally) that no one hears about either.

This is one part that I tend to disagree, and just because I disagree that does not make me a racist. I hear a lot of what the "Black Only Club" does, and it is only for blacks. The mexican communities, and the asian communities have their own clubs also. The white community is trying to start up their own club, but it will be nothing like the kkk. We just want someone by our sides when we are misjudged and mistreated. But, everytime we say anything about it, we are called racist. And being called racist just because we don't agree or because we don't believe, that is also unfair.

It says something about America that in one point in time, a race of people felt the need to create an ORGANIZATION just be treated fairly and civil.
That is kind of unnerving when you think about it.
To be compared to another organization whose sole purpose is to exterminate others unlike them is a travesty for this day and age.
Which confirms that some form of hate still exists in this country, and my grandparents Dream will never ever be realized.
This also scares me because I'm a 23 year old BW that is about to become an air traffic controller, a job that is dominated by WM, kind of like the US presidency.

Name calling and putdowns only define the one who spews such rhetoric.
