So this is on the record. It's not a hoax, like the Klan's fictional support of Barack Obama we saw earlier this year.
Apologetic KKK alumni Sen. Robert Byrd has endorsed Barack Obama, saying:
I believe that Barack Obama is a shining young statesman, who possesses the personal temperament and courage necessary to extricate our country from this costly misadventure in Iraq, and to lead our nation at this challenging time in history.
Byrd has long since apologized -- and been forgiven -- for his past membership in the Ku Klux Klan and opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act. But, how one "apologizes" for being a recovering racist and member of an American terrorist organization is beyond understanding. Obama's cool with it. So there you have it.
Indeed, armed with a letter signed by Obama, Moveon.org Political Action Committee was the top contributor to Byrd's 2006 reelection campaign. Politics does indeed make strange bedfellows.
In his announcement, Byrd pointedly made note that Obama is a "noble-hearted patriot and humble Christian." This will help lay to rest rumors that Obama is a Muslim. Additionally, Byrd's endorsement should help Obama pull some additional votes in today's primary in Kentucky, which borders West Virginia.
Obama will need all the help he can get in the Bluegrass State, where Hillary Clinton has a commanding lead. He attributes his expected loss to FOX News and a misinformation campaign:
Part of it is because there have been these e-mails that have been sent out very systematically, presumably by various political opponents, although I don't know who. And there are a lot of voters who get their news from Fox News. Fox has been pumping up rumors about my religious beliefs or my patriotism or what have you since the beginning of the campaign.Obama will likely swing and miss in the home of the Louisville Slugger, he is expected to hit a homerun in Oregon, where 75,000 turned out for a campaign rally at Portland's Waterfront Park. Byrd gets zero credit for this.
Another primary day, another split decision.

I agree with Ms. Unique all she is saying is that people need to Know what they are talking about before they post, Too many ignorant people who dont want to hear the truth. As far as you being Arab-American, have you ever studied Arabs role in the slave trade? Arab/Muslim brothers? I DONT THINK SO!

"Ms. Unique said.......The KKK my dear is a HATERED, IGNORANT, EVIL, and RACIST ORGANIZATION! The NAACP ensures the political, educational, social, and economic EQUALITY RIGHTS OF ALL PERSONS and to ELIMINATE RACIAL HATRED and RACIAL DISCRIMINATIONS!"
"The blacks have their own kkk anyway, but you call it the naccp".
To both of these-
the naacp is just like the KKK,
the kkk was started to help the whites because the blacks are taking all of the white peoples rights and privelages they previously had.
thats exactly what the naacp is for.
except the naacp has not really gone to the extremes the KKK went through.
and for senator byrd,
if he thinks he was a member of the kkk, he is really a stupidass.
why say he was a member of the kkk if he is just going to support the black man for the presidential election, instead of senator John McCain?
mccain is the christian white man,
one most people of the united states would think the KKK supports, and when it makes references to the KKK supporting obama, this is not what they meant,
a british magazine made that story up, and they apologized to the KKK.
the magazine has it written on the cover that nothing in it has been proven and most is not true.

You need to go to the web site of the NAACP and look it's TIME LINE. There you will find out that it was founded in 1909 by a BI-RACIAL group of individuals, i.e., Ida Wells-Barnett, W.E.B. DuBois, Henry Moscovitz, Mary White Ovington, Oswald Garrison Villiard and William English. Before you start berating "a people" or "organization", take a "walk in their shoes". If you were all of a sudden "Black" in this country one week you'd probably blow your brains out because you wouldn;t be able to take the pressure

Don't any of you know the history of the NAACP. First of all it was founded by a group of people who were BI-RACIAL. Approximatly half and half, in 1909. We needed all the help we could get in "1909 AMERICA". If I'm not mistaken , a few years ago it did take up the cause on a white person. I can't be really sure. Besides, if you've never been black in this country you wouldn't have the faintest idea what it's like.

To aToMiC #41 Please don't compare the KKK to the NAACP. I am tired of people posting on BV Blogs with "FALSE FACTS" and trying to make people on here offended and looking like they don't know what they are talking about! You don't konw what the NAACP is about but you have your opinion. Apparently, you don't want to see an "AFRO-AMERICAN MAN" be PRESDENT of the UNITED STATES! I'm sure Sen. Byrd is SINCERE and is SORRY for what he has done in the PAST this is a START to bring people of all color together that are full of HATERED! It's UNFORTUNATE for those who can't get beyond the PAST and still HOLD ON. This is what I am talking about and most of the people on here TOTALLY AGREE! COLOR shouldn't matter and that is not the reason why I am voting for Obama! I'm sure, Obama supporters feel the same. All the McCain Supporters still can't figure out Obama because he is different than any candidate that is runnig or has ever run! Please, just accept he is just as "QUALIFIED" as the other running candidates. Obama earned the RIGHT to run for the PRESIDENCY and he DESERVES the RIGHT to HELP and FIGHT for our COUNTRY once he is ELECTED! You say McCain is a Christian, well so is Obama.
This is the problem people are out to DIVIDE instead of UNITING with each other. Regardless if you are REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRAT, INDEPENT, ect... Obama represents "CHANGE" and I TOTALLY AGREE! I feel sorry for those still STUCK IN RACISM and won't let it GO! All I can do is PRAY for those who are EVIL, IGNORANT, and people that are RACIST. LET'S STOP THIS NOW! WE ALL NEED TO FORGIVE,UNDERSTAND, HELP ONE ANOTHER, UNITE, AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER! This is what "GOD" wants for ALL of US to do! THESE ARE THE LAST DAYS! PEOPLE, WAKE UP!
PEACE!

What a lot of people are getting upset about is that, if all people...black, white, orange, yellow green, etc....don't vote for obama then all of them are being considered racist. We are being judged unfairly (I know life is unfair, blah, blah blah) just because we are not voting for obama. Maybe some of us just don't like him personally, maybe some of us think that he is full of hot air, maybe some of us don't like what he has to say, maybe some of us need more info on him to make a final decision. There are a lot of reasons why some people will not or just don't want to vote for him. But, that does not mean that they are racist and they are not voting for him because he is black. I know that there are people out there that will not vote for him because he is black, and that is their choice and possibly their mistake. We take a chance on whoever we vote for, we will never know who the right choice will be or would have been.

In my opinion, people won't vote for Hillary because, they think that Hillary is full of LIES and not TRUSTWORTHY to the country. With that "Bosnia Attack", the "Church" that she belongs to and the media won't talk about, I don't know? If it wasn't for that for Hillary, maybe I would have voted for her? Color and Gender had no part in making my decision on who to vote for! This goes way back when Bill Clinton was President. Lying and deceiving his wife and this country. I will say, Hillary and Obama have similar ideas they are both good candidates running for our Democratic Party. Everybody has the right, to vote for the RIGHT candidate that think is "Qualified" and will be "Commander in Chief"! Let's all of us "Unite" and not "Divide"! Not everyone is a "Racist" if they don't vote for Obama. Everybody has there own opinion and have the right to vote for the perfect candidate that they see fit for the job!

I like Obama because of his
"Good Wisdom", "Intelligence", "Character",
"Experience", "Good Judgement", "Good Speaker", "Good Motivator",a person that has "Good Vision" "Integrity", for our country, and a candidate that wants "Change" for our country! We are tired of the same old "Rhetoric" in politics! When Obama makes speeches, he moves me and makes me cry. It is "Deep"! In my eyes, he is "Sincere" and wants to "Help" this "Country" get back on "Track"!
"Yes We Can"!
Whomever wins nomination for the Presidency, I'm sure the Obama or Hillary supporters will support each other! We don't want another BUSH in the WHITE HOUSE!
Peace!

I agree...we definitely don't need another bush in the White House....LOL
I just don't know who I am voting for personally yet.
But, you are right....everyone has to vote with their own beliefs in what they want out of a candidate. It is a personal decision that no one else can make for them. But, in the same respect....no one should demean, ridicule or bully a person for the decision that they made.
