In an op-ed in the New York Daily News, Hillary Clinton addressed the latest kerfuffle:
I want to set the record straight: I was making the simple point that given our history, the length of this year's primary contest is nothing unusual. Both the executive editor of the newspaper where I made the remarks, and Sen. Kennedy's son, Bobby Kennedy Jr., put out statements confirming that this was the clear meaning of my remarks. Bobby stated, "I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense."
As to why she's still running, Clinton has a simple response. The race isn't over:
I am not unaware of the challenges or the odds of my securing the nomination - but this race remains extraordinarily close, and hundreds of thousands of people in upcoming primaries are still waiting to vote. As I have said so many times over the course of this primary, if Sen. Obama wins the nomination, I will support him and work my heart out for him against John McCain. But that has not happened yet.And to the haters naysayers:
I believe I won a 40-point victory two weeks ago in West Virginia and a 35-point victory in Kentucky this past week - despite voters being repeatedly told this race is over - because I'm standing up for them. I'm standing up for the deepest principles of our party and for an America that values the middle class and rewards hard work.Clinton hopes the Puerto Rico primary, which she is expected to win, will improve her fuzzy popular vote math.
Finally, I am running because I believe I'm the strongest candidate to stand toe-to-toe with Sen. McCain. Delegate math might be complicated - but electoral math is not. Our campaign is winning the popular vote - and we've been winning the swing states we need to get 270 electoral votes and take back the White House: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Arkansas, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Michigan, Florida and West Virginia.

Hillary Clinton's plummets Obama in West Virginia and KY raises serious doubts over Barack Obama's ability.
It is a fact that no Democrat has won the White House since 1916 without winning West Virginia, Obama lost West Virginia by more than 40 points, an enormous fall, voters who went against Obama — white, rural, older, low-income and without college degrees — don't just live in West Virginia. They live everywhere in the country, in places Obama needs to win in a general election. In anticipation of the West Virginia primary, college students for Obama were hurling insults at farmers and truck drivers. Now we hear pained remarks from the Obama camp that many white men won't vote for any black. Oh really? No one was complaining during the early races in Iowa, Maryland, Virginia and Wisconsin, when most of the white male participants backed Obama. That was before the Rev. Jeremiah Wright ugliness became public. Obama's inability to persuade working-class white voters to back him points to serious problem for him in the presidential election. A large percentage of voters who backed Mrs Clinton said they would not vote for Obama in the presidential race if he becomes the nominee. Disrespecting the nearly 17 million who have supported Clinton is politically unwise, but turning them into "the enemy" is insane. Bill Clinton presided over the longest peacetime expansion since World War II. His budget surpluses put his so-called conservative predecessors and successor to shame. Wouldn't a vow to build on the Clinton legacy, rather than dismantle it, be a better tack for the Obama campaign? More proof Obama is to inexperienced and as a political elite out of touch with everyday America, Obama received glowing, it's-over-he-is-the-nominee coverage for the past six days, and that amounted to nothing in West Virginia. One has to wonder if the giddy praise and tingling feelings jolting up the legs of ALL at CNN and the Chris Matthewses, Keith Olbermanns cable news "Wright-free zones" of the world amounts to a hill of beans. Voters have figured out the biased media and no longer relying on them for truth!

Republicans October Surprise on Obamas.
MICHELLE OBAMA RAILING AGAINST WHITEY
http://www.dontvoteobama.net.
Republicans October Surprise on Obamas. Video of Michelle Obama railing against whitey in Rev. Wright’s church.
http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/05/16/will-barack-throw-mama-from-the-train/
More video showing Michelle Obama, railing against whitey from the pulpit of racist, anti-US pastor Reverend Wrights church, former Deputy Director in the US State Department.
Four republican sources (three who are senior Republicans) confirm there is video dynamite coming –Michelle Obama railing against whitey at Jeremiah Wrights church. Republicans are hell on wheels when it comes to opposition research. They took a chance and started reviewing the recordings from services at Jeremiah Wright’s United Church of Christ which are on sale. And Holy smoke!! There are clips being held for the fall to drop at the appropriate time. The last thing Barrack needs are new clips that raises further questions about Michelle Obama poor judgment, mean and hateful temperament, when this clip is made public, Obama's hope of becoming the next president of the United States will be instantly destroyed.
DEMOCRATES NEED CLINTON TO WIN IN GENERAL ELECTION!
We are told it is why Obama's recent statement urging Republicans to lay off his wife, as if Michelle Obama's behavior, provocative statements and high-profile stance during his campaign should somehow be immune from examination and criticism and we should just allow her to call Americans MEAN because she isn’t proud of her country or like white folks! Now we understand why Obama’s chief political adviser David Alexrod on National Public Radio claimed white working class Democrats barely exist and hardly matter, white working class has gone to the Republican nominee for many elections, This is not new, WE don’t need or rely solely on those votes.

I don't know how the Clinton's think that Black people need to support them. They have never done anything for anyone accept the rich. Bill Clinton received the Black vote, because it was either him or Bush again. Now we have a better choice, and they're not helping themselves by trying to make Michelle Obama look like she hates White people. But since you all went there she's probably just as tired as me of White americans defining Black americans through what they think we should be, and imposing themselves on us. If the Clintons think that Black people owe them something they are very dellusioned. Maybe Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson-Lee, and that Tubbs lady, or either some of those super delegates owes the Clintons. Not me.

From Blacks4Barack:
Black Americans, and many of all races are EXTREMELY disturbed by Hillary's insinuation of a possible assassination of Barack Obama. To imply that her reason for staying in the race is because anything can happen, then nonchalantly say that even Robert Kennedy was assassinated in June, meaning therefore she should stay in, is not only pitifully diobolical but incredibly dangerous.
As I read some of the comments, I sense that some do not understand the true impact of her deadly insinuation. Keep in mind, when it was first announced that Obama was running for President, the initial concern in Black America was his safety. "Would some nut sniper him"? Obama had to hire secret service security right out of the gate.....why? Because of the true possibilty of some nut doing harm to him or his family.
Also, during the last 50 years, the people who have been assassinated have ALL been leaders who were working toward equality for ALL. John F., Robert and of course Dr. King. So just the WORD assassination brings to us not only an extreme fear but is a reminder of the incredibly sad loss to America, particularly Blacks, at the hands of the sick and wicked. For Hillary Clinton, a so-called leader, to insinuate, for WHATEVER reason assassination....is beyond disgusting. It subliminally sparks the hatred, bigotry and destruction that most Americans have worked so hard to overcome.

p.s. So sad that BlackVoices is not a true voice for Blacks. Still not one positive article on Obama's historic path to the White House.....That's verrrrrry strange !

If folks really were openminded as they would like to believe they are, they'd listen to the plans of the candidates then the soundbites given to them by the media,. then they'd hear what how thought out the plans really are. Obama has the most thought out plans for this country, it education, the Veterins, and the poor.

The people talking about her winning West Virginia, please, this is a lily white state that would hang a black than rather say hello to them. What the white people of West Virginia are afraid of a very intelligent and educated BLACK person. If you listen to her speech, this is all what she was saying that this whites were not going to vote for this BLACK MAN. If those people vote for McCain instead of Obama, you deserve whatever you get for the next four years from the BUSH CLONE!!!!!!!!!!!. No, I am not going to vote for the she snake in the grass, because I do not trust her to keep her promise to do anything for BLACK AMERICA!!!!, because the majority of blacks have wise up to her and her husband.
