After saying he wouldn't, he did. Barack Obama has thrown another friend under the bus. Jim Johnson, who Obama tapped to vet potential vice presidential candidates, was forced to resign because he did not want to become a distraction.
Obama said in a statement:
Jim did not want to distract in any way from the very important task of gathering information about my vice presidential nominee, so he has made a decision to step aside that I accept.
In a separate statement, Johnson added:
I would not dream of being a party to distracting attention from that historic effort. I believe Barack Obama's candidacy for President of the United States is the most exciting and important of my lifetime.Johnson's days were numbered once reports emerged of his sweetheart loans with a predatory lender, Countrywide Financial Corp., which is under federal investigation for its role in the subprime mortgage crisis.
At a town hall meeting in Lancaster, Pa., earlier this year, Obama harshly criticized Countrywide:
These are the folks who are responsible for infecting the economy and helping to create a home-foreclosure crisis -- 2 million people may end up losing their homes.Obama's tepid defense that Johnson was "tangential" to the campaign was a signal that the bus was coming.

This latest incident concerning Jim Johnson is truly unfortunate. However it's a bunch of nonsense." In my opinion, this is only another political spin arising from the McCain camp. I'm ready for the media to focus more intentively on deeper issues, which concerns American people." such as:
< A resolution and effective energy plan for arising gasoline prices.
< A generous GI Healthcare insurance plan for our brave soldiers.
< Universal Healthcare insurance for all Americans.
< An effective solution for social security & Medicare for our elderly.
< A safe and welcoming return(reunion) for our U.S. Troops.
< Forclosure fraud issues eliminated.
< Tax breaks for the the poor & middle-class
Here are a few personal issues I would like to address.
< Increasing homeless within the United States.
< Home Insurance for victims who endured extreme weather conditions.
< Outsoursing Companies.
< Finally, Regaining international respect with other countries.
These are very serious issues which The American democratic party should be addressing.

Senator Obama did not throw him under the bus. Mr. Johnson resigned of his own free will because he did not want to distract the American public from the real issues. He knew that Senator Obama's opponents would use him as ammunition in their campaign to discredit the Senator, just as the writer of this article is attempting to do. The title of this article looks like something you'd expect from Fox News, not Black Voices.

Hello Paige,
I agree with you. Jim Johnson was a dear friend of Obama. He stepped down from his position to spare the Obama campaign any hardships. However, I recently learn, Mr. Jim Johnson was fausly accused." He did not commit any of the alleged offenses the McCain's camp so eagerly jumped to judgment to report. Not only should a public apology be made by the republican McCain campaign, but heads should role on this topic. In addition, Mr. Jim Johnson should be completely reinstated back to his position.

Can't wait til all that dirt starts to flyin, cause brother man is fixin to start singing like the Temptations. Bet!

Hello Tarrant For Hillary,
I enjoyed reading your thread; you raised some interesting theories for me to ponder, with regards to the Hillary Camp and Raskeco's inditement."
I have written many threads relating to Hilary Clinton. First I would would like to state: "I have much respect for what Mrs. Clinton has accomplished for women in the USA and her Universal Healthcare plan. Not-with-stand-ing, the primarys are over and she lost her campaign nomination. Although Hilary is quite capable of creating this type of sound-bite, my source of information was given on CNN; (The situation Room). Wolf Blitzer reported the republicians as the villian, The McCain campaign fed the media with false information as it related to the Jim Johnson scandal, which later cause him to step-down from his position.
I argree with with your thoughts on Raskeco's inditement. Howvever I must admit, "I'm not well breed on this topic and need to research more information prior to making any comments. This part I know to be fact: The Republician party has tried every opportunity, to link Obama with Raskeco's inditement, in spite of the courts clearing Obama of any wrong doing. I can only hope that many Americans see this for what is truly is: "Dirty politics" and move on to real issues.
Thank you for your thread.

To begin with, it was not an indictment, but a conviction. The jury deliberated for a long time. Are you implying that the jury withheld their decision for the sake of a political campaign? Also, although the Republicans are making an attempt to connect Senator Obama with the illegal dealings of Mr. Rezko, had you bothered to check with someone other than Fox News, you would know that he was convicted of conspiring with Stuart Levine, a longtime REPUBLICAN insider. Mr. Rezko hasn't been charged (let alone convicted) of any wrongdoings in anything related to Senator Obama. Although the concept may be difficult for some to comprehend, even wrongdoers do things that aren't crimes. There is NO indication that Mr. Rezko ever engaged in anything illegal with Senator Obama. There is no one who is completely evil, even Karl Rove has probably done something decent at one time or another.
