A guy who can't rustle up enough supporters to meet in a cell phone booth offered this advice:
I mean, first of all, the number one thing that a black American politician aspiring to the presidency should be is to candidly describe the plight of the poor, especially in the inner cities and the rural areas, and have a very detailed platform about how the poor is going to be defended by the law, is going to be protected by the law, and is going to be liberated by the law.Nader is trapped in an era, circa the 1970s, when he was relevant and folks used the term "ghettos."
I haven't heard him have a strong crackdown on economic exploitation in the ghettos. Payday loans, predatory lending, asbestos, lead. What's keeping him from doing that? Is it because he wants to talk white?"
Obama responded saying: "Ralph Nader's trying to get attention. He's become a perennial political candidate. It's a shame, because if you look at his legacy in terms of consumer protections, it's an extraordinary one."
Why would anyone, let alone Obama, listen to a man who won 0.3 percent of the vote in 2004, and has a snowball's chance of garnering a fraction of that in November.
Nader labels Obama the "black presidential candidate." At the same time, he presumes to define our issues. Nader, like 3 in 10 white Americans NOT voting for Obama, has this fear that Obama would do too much to help blacks if elected. Now Nader's trying to corner Obama for not fulfilling that ignorant prophecy.
It's enough to make you wanna ralph.

I am a passionate Obama supporter. And Ralph Nader is a great American. I would never simply dismiss ANYTHING Ralph Nader has to say. He is a tireless champion for the American underclass. I want to see Barack take office but I don't think it serves any purpose to assume everyone who criticizes Obama is a "loser." That's the last thing Ralph Nader is. i don't agree with everything eitherof them said. But let's keep things in perspective. Now is not the time for Black America to romanticize about antything. We need solutions. I think we begin from a place rooted in hope, but we our allegience should be to the truth ONLY. No matter what mouth it comes out of. Ralph Nader is not a racist. Whether you agree with him or not, take the time to at least analyse what he's saying. He definitely deserves that much after a lifetime of fighting the good fight.

If you listen to the tone of his voice it sounds alot like a sore loser telling everyone why the winner won...He states that Obama "talks white" so this means he thinks white and black people are different in the way they speak??? then he states that the only difference between Obama and any other candidate is that Obama is half black? meaning that white and black are the same? very contridicting ... In my opinion he is tryig to pull white voters his way by sparking the inner racist in some white voters...

Faye, you've proven you can be rude. You've not made any case. I'm at the point where Barack's about to lose my vote to Cynthia McKinney due to Barack's attacks on Black fathers and other nonsense.
How about you deal with what Ralph said. His criticism was accurate. Maybe that's why you prefer to try one liners?

When someone is competing for the highest office in the land, such as that of the presedency, it is not uncommon for others to speak ill of the front runner. Thus, we as citizens should not fall for the inflammatory jargon voiciferated by the apparent runner up.

Mr. Nader's comments actually fall in line with the progressive views of internalized racism and oppression. It's a shame that rather than digging deeper that the media has singled out one line in order to create a frenzy.

Hehe...nice play on words...It's enough to make you wanna ralph.
I don't like what he's saying here. Unlike most of our presidents, I believe a politician aspring for the presidency should have all plights in mind not just the category they best fit into, but that is just my way of thinking.
Also sounds like he's making Obama the voice of the poor simply because he's black. I thought that was John Edwards' platform.

I would have never thought that Ralph Nader was a relative of Karl Rove and other Neo-Cons. However, there are also liberals that think on the same level. Bottom Line: Folks like the above have a very hard time in acknowledging or respecting a highly educated, bright Black man for achieving what he has achieved. Instead they continue to try and polarize others with their myths about someone that they truly believe is their worst nightmare.

Maybe Nader would have much more credibility if he weren't such a hypocrite and a sadist. I mean – the man viciously attacks Democrats every time, while saying next to NOTHING about Republicans. Also, he said nothing when Republicans and the Supreme Cout (and himself) saw thousands of blacks have their voting rights suspended in Florida, while Bush ascended to the throne. Nader is a self-serving lunatic!

Nader's just mentioning what we all know, that now that Obama doesn't need Rev Wright, he's changing his pandering to the Jewish Lobby and NeoCons. Have you even listened to Obama's speeches on Iran and the Palestinians now that he's the nominee? He’s pushing us into the next war already.

Nader's comments were taken out of context, and if you listen to what he actually say's .. his delivery is less than PC but sorry he's right on. Obama and all the multi racial Democrats have failed the people time and time again. They are masters of Rhetoric..(especially Sen. Obama) and they have different voices for each crowd face it..they are career politicians. But what have they actually done for us lately..other than words? Change?! How..please tell me?
Obviously the Republicans have worked against us..they don't try to sugar coat it...but what makes the Republicrats even more dastardly is their evolving ability to fool people into "believing" their thinly vailed corporate backed half truths.
Why does Obama beleive that Impeachment is not acceptable? Why is that off the table?
Why isn't the Patriot Act being repealed right now?
Why isn't Obama supporting a Canadian style single payer health care system...instead of selling modified health Insurance?!
Obama...why aren't you promising to cut the bloated military budget?! (1/2 the federal budget)
I guess like most supporters..I'm supposed to "beleive" that although Obama hasn't said he would do these things...when he gets elected..he just will...OK?!
I'm 31 and in my lifetime...I've never seen a Democrat fight for me. They've told me they will...but it never materializes. Meanwhile...they have gotten deeper and deeper into our corporate masters pockets.
Obama is a brilliant orator, but when you get right down to it, we should still be aiming our hope at getting Ralph Nader into a televised debate calling both party's too task.
It's sad that this is the only media coverage Nader has really gotten.
Hey...If he's racist then what's the worry? No one likes a racist, if the debate committee would let him publicly make a fool of himself, I'm sure his chances of being a "spoiler" would quickly fade away right?
If the party wants Nader to go away...they should let him debate.
All of the great changes in this country were born from the actions of third party's. The Democrats are just the status quo by action...how ever they package it...Let me see action. Let Ralph debate! You can cash in on the ratings.
He's obviously not insignificant...
In fact pretty much all of the current Democratic platform is just a watered down version of the messages Nader's been fighting to get out for years. But alas..it's core has been manipulated. And they suppressed him, and called him insignificant. Until he was the "spoiler"...then he was real significant.
Someone please tell me what the "Change" is?! Be specific.
