By: White America did have a part in creating single family homes on 7/29/2008 3:02PM
When welfare removed men from the homes of women of all colors single family households became the norm instead of the exception. We can not blame it all of America but it did play an enormous roll in creating households that were not allowed to have men in them.
So, since the 60's there has been now generations of kids not even knowing that a 2 parent household is even necessary and they are now grandparents which have never been married and their kids and kids kids are following suit.
However there are many 2 parent households and good fathers in the black community, in my youth all of my friends had fathers at home not unless they were dead or divorced. The divorced families were scandlous during that time and single Mother's did not even feel right having another child afterwards.
Society as a hold has these same problems but White America choses to call their single parents trash or ignore their on statistics.
If America cut out welfare many many white children would starve to death also.
When someone white enters my home they say with surprize that I have a nice home and are even more surprized to meet and greet my husband. The part of my being a housewife really puts them in a tail spin. Being light skin carries a whole new set of stares and comments to the point of them thinking I am some sort of "different" black person.
I have said previously that the drugs in the neighborhoods was started in the black areas where whites were afraid of the "new" black men that were coming out of college during the 60's and 70's much more than black women and they had to put a stop to that.

Is it taboo to expose the problems and habits of white Americans? Is the notion that talking about Blacks in America is only to make white folks feel good about themselves and to say to their own that ,see how the are. This African American problem or problems is not only in the Black community but in America period. Seperating issues as Black issues and nothing on white issues does nothing to the self esteem of those who are trying to rise above the stigma of what is expected of the Blacks in America.
What timetable did America give African Americans to rise to the standards and equal status of the rest of the world? Did we as growing up have the same benefits as the rest of the world? Oppurtunity exists but without hope it is all wasted on a group of people set free but without the tools that others had to get ahead and pass it on to others like white folks did for their children. Many Blacks sought the same but found obstacles so far harder and the bar set so high that it was impossible to get over.We know the reasons and we should address those reasons and open the eyes of the entire world.

This list of ten are not unique to the "Black Community," but can be true of any community. As I see it, is not about skin color, but about financial class. The wealthy have thier drug problems and issues but can afford to cover them up or check into rehab, but they still have issues. The "poor" are affected the most because of lack of education, lack of money which can lead to crime. The middle class works hard, and ends up paying for everyone. And, thier children don't appreicate what they have and turn to drugs and get in trouble with the law, etc. It isn't just the "black community" that faces these issues. Get out of the neighborhood and look around. It's the financially poor that suffer. Those who are doing well, need to reach out and help someone improve their life, then EVERYONE of EVERY community will benefit. Everyone is a victim of something, and everyone faces their challenges. As a woman, I've touched the glass ceiling. Coming from a poor family, I've experienced the predjudices of those that have towards us that did not have. I've also experience predjudice due to my skin color. Yet, my determination and belief in myself have helped me break through all the barriers. It's really about attitude and positive self-image. No one can give you that but yourself. Change starts within.
