PUMAs On The Prowl, Pounce On Party Unity

It's the dog days of summer but a catfight has broken out between Hillary Clinton supporters and New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd. The snarky Dowd recently wrote:
The Los Angeles Times reported that Hillary die-hards want to enshrine a whine in the Democratic platform about how the primaries "exposed pervasive gender bias in the media" and call on party leaders to take "immediate and public steps" to denounce any perceived bias in the future. That is one nutty idea.

Those "die-hards" pounced on Dowd:Now is our chance to tell the media – like Maureen Dowd – that not only isn't this idea 'nutty', but we expect more than fluff and sexism in their coverage of this election.

And that's not all they expect. They are again calling on Barack Obama to "stand up for our shared values and ensure a fair election process."

Meanwhile, the Big Dog, Bill Clinton, says he can't stand House Majority Whip James Clyburn who accused him of race-baiting during the South Carolina primary. Clinton told ABC News' Kate Snow:
I got bad press because I told the truth...But I am not a racist. I've never made a racist comment and I didn't attack him personally.
That said, Clinton is still licking his wounds from his wife's epic battle with Barack Obama. But for now he's "not commenting on it":
As soon as this election is over in January, I will have this conversation with you and everybody else. I have very strong feelings about it.
In the meantime, the Washington Post reported:
Clinton volunteered very little praise of Obama, beyond describing him as "smart" and "a good politician" when asked about him toward the end of the interview. He did, however, muse at length about the role that race could play in the general election -- the issue that some of his former black allies angrily accused him of introducing in the Democratic primaries -- as a factor, if not a decisive one.
It appears one does not have to be a card-carrying member of P.U.M.A. to want to blow Obama's Mile High. The scoreboard in INVESCO Field will come in handy to keep up with all the feuds, grudges and score-settling at the Democrats' unity convention.
