The occasion for this interview is the opening of her new boutique PB & Caviar, in New York's chic Tribeca neighborhood. It is the oddest public relations, marketing tactic I have ever witnessed.
Here's what she has to say:
"I always went to private schools - Bank Street elementary, Columbia Prep - so I was surrounded by people like me. Not so much African-American, but privileged. I don't really have a connection to other people who didn't have my lifestyle. But my dad is very into helping people from his own community in Philadelphia."What the hell???

But my dad is very into helping people from his own community in Philadelphia." -- Bill Cosby's daughter Evin tells Media Take Out.

"It was so sad to hear about Isaac Hayes. So musically advanced and timeless in his compositions, he was loved and appreciated by so many. He was an enduring symbol of the struggle of the African American man and was a shining example of soul at its best. God bless ... God bless and blessed Isaac Hayes." -- Aretha Franklin

"I've been pregnant three times by way of bloggers. I've never been pregnant in my life. (And) anything that happens in my personal life is personal. I never actually put anything out there. Nobody's really known who I've dated." -- R&B Singer Cassie tells Complex magazine about rumors, insisting her and P. Diddy are not an item.

"I'm changing my name because Master. P is who I used to be. I call it my childhood, and P. Miller marks my manhood ... People grow mentally and spiritually through life experiences." -- Percy Miller (aka Master P.)
"I'm doing very well. I feel real good... I thank the staff at 'Elvis Presley' and many, many thanks to my many well-wishers. It's great to know people care about you." -- Morgan Freeman

"I am not homophobic. I'm not a gay basher. I didn't say anything that was negative, derogatory or malicious. I would never do a commercial if I thought it was going to offend anyone." -- Mr. T responding to allegations that a UK Snickers bar commercial he shot was homophobic.
"I think we have an outstanding candidate. We have the burden now to fully register and vote. There are still maybe 6 to 8 million Blacks unregistered who should not miss this hour, this opportunity. Now that we have a who, let's focus on the what." -- Rev. Jesse Jackson tells Essence magazine.
"Who could have sex the longest! I think that's an event I can do well in. And probably who could stay up the longest." -- P. Diddy says joking about his deal Olympic event.

"This is not 1968 and the invasion of Czechoslovakia where Russia can threaten its neighbors, occupy a capital, overthrow a government and get away with it. Things have changed." -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on the Georgia-Russia conflict.

And she doesn't stop there:
My own people used to say to me, 'You speak like a white woman,'" said the youngest daughter of Bill and Camille Cosby at her chic new boutique, PB & Caviar, in Tribeca. And that's her choice.
What does that even mean, anyway? Everyone has their way of speaking and living their life. No one should be judging and assuming that because I'm black, I have to speak in that hip-hop way. That's something I prefer not to do.
But it galls me that certain black people drone on and on about how some black folks teased them in school about "talking white." It happened to me. Frankly, I was repeatedly beaten in grade school because of it. But, I was also called a "n*gg*r" and had my nose broken by a white racist when I was nine. So what? Should I not be able to "relate" to black or white people because of some incidents decades ago? What a ridiculous idea.
How sad it is that Bill Cosby who has spent a lifetime on the forefront of Civil Rights battles has raised a daughter so completely out of touch with the full dynamic of the American "peoplescape." And she's proud of it!

I too am baffled by "Diane's" comments and agree with "Notsofast". Diane - your kidding, right?? And to everyone who are not judging Bill Cosby's daugther's comments because they don't know what was the full question, etc., etc., it does not matter. The media did not put those words in her mouth - she said those words, and yes the media printed it, but if she would have never said something so DUMB in the first place there would not have been something to print. Yes, she did grow up privileged and around other "privileged" children. But the bottom line is that her skin color is black and do you think those same "privieged" individuals would look at her any differently or equal to them - no!!!! Now matter what you have and how you grow up - you are still an African American and that will never change. And not all African American people speak "hip-hop" - she is obviously an idiot (smart) idiot to say a statement like that!!!!Duh

There is one thing that I HATE about black people - When black people attend private schools and live in upperclass neighboorhoods and live a more comfortable life - WHY - do most of them feel more superior over other blacks that are less forunate?? Like they are embrassed by other black people that talk slang or went to a public school or just broke. Instad of helping blacks and giving back from once you came. All I have to say is BLACK PEOPLE please stop spreading the hate to poeple who look like you, God blessed you so why shun or talk negative about other blacks that are less fotunate?

Being a home'girl from East Saint Louis, Illinois with Mississippi Parentage; I find Evin's observations to be quite interesting.
As class goes, my mother taught us French in early childhood. That's not too useful in America, but I thank her. The Cari Scott's School of Modeling & Charm in Chicago, Illinois taught me etiquette at the behest of my Mississippi Parents, who, along with other members of my family did their able best to create in me a GODly Spirit, and a noble attitude.
Nobility in its verb form means to make everyone feel comfortable.
It is a credit to a strong culture that we Black African Americans descendents of Africans were enslaved in America have been able to hold onto our language roots for over 400 years and add to the society into which we have to large extent become adapted. I would love to go into that subject matter, but the discussion entails a lecture, and exhibits.
Some of “You People” must thank Evin for creating an exclusive store for persons such as her, and hope that sensitivity is in the designs for active, voluptuous women.
Let us hope that our Young Sista' Evin, my bad, Sister Evin who enjoys people such as herself treats everyone with kindness and nobility as they enter her exclusive plus size store as surely she must be gravitating toward thick, rich people like herself, that is if she is the person pictured with Mr. Cosby. This being said, I and most of my friends cannot partake of her wares as we are more athletic in build. However, I wish her every success in her new venture.
Thank you for your perusal and kind attention to these presents.
May the peace that surpasses all understanding be ours this now and forever. Amen.

While Evin may not relate to certain speech patterns, it is a credit to a strong culture that we Black African Americans descendents of Africans were enslaved in America have been able to hold onto our language roots for over 400 years and add to the society into which we have to large extent become adapted. I would love to go into that subject matter, but the discussion entails more time than I plan to commit in this instance.
Some of “You People” might wish to thank Evin for creating an exclusive store for persons such as her, and hope that sensitivity is in the designs for sexy, active, voluptuous women.

What an idiot. We shouldnt even blame her. Blame her parents. I hate when black folks get some money and move to all white neighborhoods and send their kids to all white schools and dont try to teach them shit about the other downtrodden oppressed black people who didnt make it to the suburbs. I dont give a damn if she went to Yale or Harvard. If you dont know the history of your people and dont have a connection with them, in my book you aint shit Ms. Cosby. Her dad needs to get off the rest of Black America and tell his daughter WAKE UP!!!!!!!!

Some of these comments are too funny!!! "Ms.Crosby," there is still time for damage control; hire a publicist! If some of these posts are an indication of "intellegent" everyday folk "that have your back" translation, "care about your best interest" then you are in trouble. Beyonce made a statement that she will never, ever live down. I'm pretty sure you can find that comment on this website. You learned the hard way that you have to be real careful regarding what you say to the media.
