DENVER -- If you think airport security is strict and heavy handed, you should see the security detail in Denver. Fort Knox has nothing on the protective bubble at the Democratic National Convention.
As many as 5,000 police are on the scene. The secret service has coordinated with more than 50 other agencies including the FBI and the US military.
But metal detectors, bomb sniffing dogs and a steel wall that could double as a Mexican border fence could never prevent the news that came as Michelle Obama took the stage Monday night:
Police arrested a man in Aurora, Colo., who was reportedly carrying weapons, a bullet-proof vest, two-way radios and a big bag of meth.
Rumors spread of an alleged Obama assassination plot. Police later arrested three others connected to the man, but no charges related to the alleged death plot have been made.
As it turns out, authorities said Tuesday, there was likely no real threat. At least, that's the word for now.
"We're absolutely confident there is no credible threat to the candidate, the Democratic National Convention (in Denver), or the people of Colorado," U.S. Attorney Troy Eid said in a statement.
I'll buy that. But as we all know, it's to be better safe than sorry. That's what keeps people alive.
I guess that's why I'm not bothered by the rumor that's getting defused more and more by the hour. I'm not troubled by the super tight security here in Denver either or being yelled at by an uptight cop for not crossing the street in an orderly fashion.
Since day one, when Obama announced his candidacy, I think most of us have feared or prayed for his safety. Being so close to his story, I've had nightmares.
But a healthy dose of fear is what keeps us safe and ALIVE. Why else would we wear seat-belts or look both ways before we cross an empty street.
I wonder, though, how does too much fear impact our way of life? I will say this, I have NOT had to take my shoes off for a security officer just yet.
The choppers buzzing overhead and scores of riot police are a reminder of our new-found instincts not to ignore our worst fears in this so-called post 9/11 America.
It's not THAT bad here at the DNC. It's not a police state, as some demonstrators have alluded to, chanting "This isn't democracy!"
But it's not the good old days either.
If it's fear that keeps Obama and the rest of us safe. I'm all for it.

The media slam dunked Hillary every chance they got, saying almost nothing negative about Obama, during the run for the Dem race. Now it seems it's Obamas' turn for the negativity. Pretty smart if your trying to push to get a republican in office.

DAVID HUBBARD !
You are praying to the devil !!!!!!!!!!!!!!REPENT!!!
Obama is someone for whom Christ died, just like you !
Jesus said:
Matthew 5:44 - But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Luke 6:28 - Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
Romans 12:14 - Bless them which persecute you: BLESS, AND CURSE NOT.
John 16:2 - They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will THINK that he doeth God service.

In reference to this message: "This is pure evil. How can a man who calls himself a Christian be pro late term abortion???? He wants absolutely no restrictions whatsoever.... That is not Christian in my book....Obama's Evil at 12:04AM on Aug 27th 2008
Sounds like you wouldn't know a Christian or an angel if one dropped down out of the cloud with a halo and wings onto your lap ! DOn't you know this country MUST vote for someone who has Christian views in every area of out living? I voted for Bush Sr solely based on his PRO-LIFE agenda. BAD DECISION! soon after we had DESERT SHIELD AND OPERATION DESERT STORM. THose pro-lifers that voted for BUSH JR are in deep regret now since they defended unborn babies and lost their born sons and daughters to senseless friendly and sniper fire in IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN and even en-route to those places. We'd better learn that we MUST vote for someone who not only passes laws in favor of the unborn but also in favor of the rest of us who are here already. Let the church do their job and discourage promiscuity in single women and lude married women. We simply CANNOT legislate morality! It is the responsibility of spriritual leaders to rebuke and discourage unclearn, sinful acts that produce unwanted children. I'm a member of the National right-to-life association, and the local chapter here, but I learned we can be more effective in this cause by addressing it through the local church and sitting in the living room of homes with young adults or promiscuous adults. Education saves lives. You can educate women and girls around you. Let's not shift the responsibility onto our political leaders ! The problem is in the home. Children left alone to rear themselves while parents split caretaking between strangers, neighbors, absent-fathers, and the street. Moms need to be in the home again. Bottom line. It is written a "child left to himself will bring his mother to shame". Away with blocking entrances to abortion and planned parent clinics, and God forbid we burn such places. SImply educate, get youth and the promiscuous to decide to keep their body, save themselves, plan their lives before starting a family, and see the value of taking any necessary precautions, and stick to it. Abortion clinics would have no patients or so few they would shutdown. We need to vote for someone who can ensure National security, keep the environment stable and clean, build strong global ties, restore our global integrity and respect, improve our name as peacemakers, build effective natural disaster defense and reconstruction plans from coast to coast, balance the national budget, get a handle on the soaring fuel costs, regulate better and protection for it's citizens against crimes, inner-city blight, poverty and ignorance, national hunger crisis, homelessness, climate control and pure air and water, improve race relations, proper disposal of waste and plans for improved landfill locations, and reduction in landfill volume, preserve natural resources, wood, coal, nature, water for the welfare and our children's children, and a host of other concerns equally as important as saving the lives of already forming unborn human beings. Think big. The Big Picture. It's a big world, a big country. Alot more people in it to consider than the fetus. God Bless their lil hearts and souls. All of us.

Never have I been so proud of a political candidate.
Never have I been so involved in the political process.
Never have I been so attentive to the developments of a political race.
Never have I been more inspired by the: integrity; compassion; character; real-ness; commitment to service and to everyday people (particularly those struggling under the weight of social, political, and governmental inequities and injustices); demonstrated track record; vision; drive; and "Sacred Activism' (even) of a public figure--a *contemporary* of mine!! (I.e., someone who's alive during my time...not dead..., not someone I've merely read about in the history books, and thought, "Wow," they're awesome! :)
Never have I felt so absolutely touched, moved, and inspired by a speech given by one of my contemporaries. I even cried on several occasions!
Never have I sensed a Divine Presence...the hand of God guiding the outcome of a political movement like this before!! This is something beyond you and me. This is HUGE!! It's DIVINE PROVIDENCE and history in the making!!! While any number of things may happen, no (wo)man--whether steeped in ignorance, fear, and/or hate, etc.--can truly stop progress and the advancement of consciousness on a *higher* plane, where the highest good for all concerned is the goal and intention.
Never have I witnessed/experienced a political servant appear to be so guided by *doing the right thing,* because it's the right thing to do...the morally correct thing in support of *all* people (not just a special interest group), and his track record proves it. Add to this the fact that the road he took was not one that rewarded him with the greater monetary compensation, i.e., fore-going a life as a corporate lawyer in favor of getting in the trenches with "the people," often times working on a grass-roots level. To me, all of this proves that this passion for public service is a part of who he is at his core...the essence of his very being, rather than being motivated by photo-ops, video cameras recording his actions, or by votes.
As far as I'm concerned, anyone who doesn't feel that Barak Obama is the best candidate to run this country...the clear choice for president of these United States is dealing with something altogether different than logic!! It would *have* to be personal--some manifestation of *their* person deep, dark issues--as to why they would choose to *not* align themselves, their support, their votes with the person who is the *best* person for the job--all around, and on every conceivable level. Plain and simple!
