Minneapolis-St. Paul -- Teen pregnancy is a problem in our society.
A recent report shows that teen pregnancy rates have gone up from 21 births per 1,000 teenage girls in 2005 to 22 per 1,000 in 2006, the most recent year for which statistics are available. In recognition of the trend, celebrities such as the Jonas Brothers and Disney dynamo Selena Gomez have grabbed headlines by taking abstinence pledges.
Helping teens resist the temptation of sex, which can result in unwanted pregnancies, is part of the agenda of the pro-life Republican party.
Yet, Sunday we learn that GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's unwed 17-year-old daughter Bristol is five months pregnant. ...
According to the Associated Press, Palin and her husband Todd released this statement: "Our beautiful daughter
Of course, the Palins' predicament is a private family matter, but choosing Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate begs this question: Is this the image that the so-called party of family values wants to put front and center?
For his part, Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said emphatically, "I think people's families are off limits; and people's children are especially off limits." He said he was offended by the suggestion that his operatives spread the unfounded Internet rumors that Sarah Palin's infant son Trig, who has Down's Syndrome, is actually Bristol's.
Meanwhile, BV took the temperature of people attending the Republican National Convention in St. Paul today.

If Chelsea Clinton became pregnant at age 17 that would have been grounds for impeachment. That is the nature of the Republic Party. A morality grounded in the dark ages and sprinkled with a generous helping of venom.

I can’t believe that they are trying to say that this woman is more qualified than Barrack. He is a Harvard graduate and she graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelors degree. This is very disrespectful.

It's funny how these Republicans can be so compassionate and forgiving when it concerns their own youth - talking all that crap about how people make mistakes and being supportive and what have you. Could you imagine if the tables were turned and Palin was black and a Democrat? They would say how inept she was, how much of a lousy parent she turned out to be and how hypocritical she is by preaching abstinence to the masses but yet her 17 year old daughter couldn't keep her legs closed. Sp typical.

This is not exactly a confidence vote for a "pure abstinence" policy

RESPONSE TO PERRY: Of course abstinence is ideal however:
The message that this sends Perry, is that even we Christians are "human." SURPRISE ! Gee I bet you've never made a decision on something you would re-think?! HOW ABOUT voting for the LOVELY BILL CLINTON! The king of "NO MORALS HIMSELF!" WHAT an example he set for the entire Nation of our young children ? RIght??!!! NOT only did he set a bad example of what "SEX IS" haha! He then LIED and LIED and LIED some more even to the grand jury about his actions rather than ACCEPT responsibility for his actions! THEN after that, idiots voted him in for another term ! HOW STUPID is that?! Be careful Perry, at the rocks you throw from your glass house!....At least Palin's daughter and her beau are standing up and accepting the responsibility for "their" actions ~ these two are almost adults and made an adult decision, this doesn't mean Sarah or her husband are not paying attention. This just shows that this family goes through "AVERAGE" everyday stuff just like the rest of Americans and I don't think that this is going to hurt the campaign in any way ~ In fact, just like I said, shows their family goes through "regular stuff" just like us regular Americans.......
Barack HUSSEIN Obama is the one that says "let's keep the families/children out of it" YEAH right! Then he turned around and attacked Cindy McCain...just wait until the Republicans start listing all of Michelle's SELF SERVING attributes ~ there will be no question who will be more suited to be FIRST LADY of our NATION ~ CINDY MCCAIN. [Take off the gloves John McCain, GO FOR IT! :) ]
NO EXPERIENCE ~ NO OBAMA ~ NO WAY!
KEEP OUR NATION SAFE ~~~ VOTE MCCAIN/PALIN in 2008

If we are going to condemn pregnancy outside of marriage then it should be for all women whether it a republican or democrat.
Republican we need to live by our moral even when other parties don't. Or we need to get of the holier than thou attitude that we use to judge anyone who not a republican with.
If she wasn't a republican we would be condemning her. Republican do it all the time but now all of a sudden; it's we human and we make mistake.

I will go on record to say they I now believe the story that Palin teenage daughter is the Mother of the baby she is passing off as her own. Why? Because they know they can only get away with covering up so much. The girl probably still have the weight from giving birth, so what better way to hide the truth by now saying she is pregnant and then just watch, in the end there will be no baby.
This also proves that she is no fit Mother for the who da Mother baby drama in the first place. I guess if they are in the White House, since the Barracuda/Soccer/Beauty Queen don't have time to raise her own children, and her main concern is to get elected, we will have plenty of who da Mommy babies running around the White House.

Pallin's daughter IS a subject to be talked about, as this gun-totin' soccer mom seems to misunderstand that SHE is against all forms of help for women in this country, SHE is against a woman having a choice, SHE is against "teenage pregnancies", and moreover, SHE is so far right of Der Furher bush that she makes him look like he cares! So what if her daughter got preggers over 5 MONTHS AGO??? We aren't interested in that; it happens every day. What is disconcerning is that the repukelians ALWAYS go on and on about how THEY are the moral compass of this country, how THEY know what's best (including cutting the fundage for said programs to help these teenage girls' who get preggers), and here we are......what hyprocrates these republicans be---and they need to hear it from a public TIRED OF THEIR LIES AND DECIT!!!
--Can you say RIDICULOUS HYPOCRITITAL NAZIS, class???
