Minneapolis-St. Paul -- Teen pregnancy is a problem in our society.
A recent report shows that teen pregnancy rates have gone up from 21 births per 1,000 teenage girls in 2005 to 22 per 1,000 in 2006, the most recent year for which statistics are available. In recognition of the trend, celebrities such as the Jonas Brothers and Disney dynamo Selena Gomez have grabbed headlines by taking abstinence pledges.
Helping teens resist the temptation of sex, which can result in unwanted pregnancies, is part of the agenda of the pro-life Republican party.
Yet, Sunday we learn that GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's unwed 17-year-old daughter Bristol is five months pregnant. ...
According to the Associated Press, Palin and her husband Todd released this statement: "Our beautiful daughter
Of course, the Palins' predicament is a private family matter, but choosing Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate begs this question: Is this the image that the so-called party of family values wants to put front and center?
For his part, Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said emphatically, "I think people's families are off limits; and people's children are especially off limits." He said he was offended by the suggestion that his operatives spread the unfounded Internet rumors that Sarah Palin's infant son Trig, who has Down's Syndrome, is actually Bristol's.
Meanwhile, BV took the temperature of people attending the Republican National Convention in St. Paul today.

This is something I don’t understand. Over the past decades we keep hearing that the Republicans are the party of “family values.” What does that mean? I think we should be able to judge the effectiveness of a family’s values and judgment by seeing how their children turn out. So let’s look at the children of high-ranking Republicans and high-ranking Democrats. There’s Chelsea Clinton, with an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a Master’s Degree from Oxford. Let’s compare her to Bristol Palin, 17 years old and pregnant. Which would I want for my children? Now let’s look at Amy Carter, who has completed an undergraduate degree from the Memphis College of Art and a Master’s Degree from Tulane University. Compare her to Jenna Bush, who while she did complete a teaching degree from the University of Texas and is now active in promoting literacy programs, had numerous charges brought against her for underage drinking. To be fair, her sister Barbara graduated from Yale and did not experience the addiction problems of her sister. Republicans’ staunch espousal of conservative family values does not “protect” their children from the “sins” of supporting abortion (Maureen Reagan), being homosexual (Mary Cheney), or choosing atheism (Ron Reagan). So my question is this…If Republicans can’t get their own children to grow up and support their conservative ideals, what right do they have to try to force these ideas on me and my family?

THEY SAY OBAMA HAS NO EXPERIENCE. BUT, PEOPLES HE IS SMARTER THAN SARAH PALIN. OBAMA DID NOT HAVE TO ATTEND FIVE COLLEGES TO GET HIS DEGREE OR IS IT DEGREES.LIKE GOV.PALIN DID. OBAMA IS SMARTER THAN MCCAIN IN ECONOMY. WHAT DO MCCAIN KNOWS ABOUT US MIDDLE CLASS OR POOR PEOPLES. WHEN MCCAIN DON'T LIVE LIKE US. HOW MANY PEOPLES HAVE 13 CARS AND 7 OR 9 HOUSES.THE RICH LIVE LIKE THAT. SO, WHAT THE HELL DO MCCAIN KNOWS ABOUT HOW MIDDLE/POOR PEOPLES LIVE. WHEN OBAMA STRUGGLE IN LIFE LIKE MOST OF US WHO MOTHER WAS ON FOOD STAMPS.AND ANOTHER THING IF YOUR ECONOMY AT HOME IS NOT STRONG. HOW DO YOU EXPECT OUR MILITARY TO BE STRONG.AND WHEN A WOMAN HAS A BABY.DO THAT MAKE HER HAS EXPERIENCE. NO, NOT ALL THE TIME AND THAT DOES NOT MAKE HER A BAD MOTHER.WE LEARN HOW TO BE MOTHER'S WITH WISDOM. WE LEARN THOUGH OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS HOW TO BE BETTER AT IT THEN ALONG COMES THE EXPERIENCES AND WHAT GOD GAVE US ALL. COMMON SENSE. DON'T EVER THINK THAT ALL OF YOUR PRESIDENTS HAD EXPERIENCES.THATS WHY THEY HAVE THERE ADVISORS.PEOPLES WHO HELP THEM MAKE THESE DECISIONS.TO BE BETTER LEADERS

SARAH PALIN IS NOT READY TO BE THE VP OF THIS COUNTRY.SHE DOES NOT HAVE THE EXPERIENCE OR INTELLECT.THIS CHOICE BY JOHN MCCAIN SHOWS HIS POOR DECISION MAKING ABILITY. ROMNEY, GUILIANI OR RIDGE WOULD HAVE BEEN A BETTER CHOICE, BUT MCCAIN IS AFTER THE WOMEN VOTE, BUT PALIN IS NOT THE "ONE". THAT BEING SAID, I RESPECT MCCAIN'S SERVICE TO THIS COUNTRY AS I TOO AM A VETERAN, OF THE PAST THREE WARS THIS COUNTRY HAS FOUGHT. THAT FACT DOESN'T QUAILIFY ME TO BE PRESIDENT OR VP. PEOPLE NEED TO OPEN THEIR EYES AND MINDS BEFORE VOTING.GEORGE W BUSH SHOULD BE A WAKE-UP CALL. THIS COUNTRY CANNOT ENDURE 4-8 MORE YEARS OF RIGHT WING POLITICS. BORROWING MONEY FROM OUR SUPPOSE ENEMIES (CHINA). WHAT NEXT??????

Speaking of Chelsea Clinton:
There is bad news about her father.
It is opined that Bill Clinton committed racist hate crimes, and I am not free to say anything further about it.
