The inimitable Oprah Winfrey kicked up quite a dust storm by deciding that she would only have Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin on for an interview after the election. Oprah's since been called a "racist", "biased" and "finished" by some of her white female viewers who have decided that Palin is the ideal guest.
Conservative blogger Matt Drudge instigated this tempest by printing an unsubstantiated rumor that a "battle" was raging behind the scenes of Oprah's show about whether to have Palin on or not. It certainly seems possible that a heated disagreement would exist, but Oprah denied it all. ...
The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.
That seems like a reasonable decision to me. And this whole rumor sounds just like other recent Republican attacks on the media. Although Oprah has declared support for Barack Obama's presidential bid, he has not been a guest since announcing his candidacy. Also, am I the only one who remembers that Oprah had George W. Bush on and greeted him with a hug and a kiss?Still, Oprah's firm stance supporting Obama is in stark contrast to her "all things to all people" kind of easy-going and comforting persona she has spent much of her career cultivating. Some of her viewers are feeling jolted.
With almost 1,000 comments on her community message board dedicated to a possible Palin interview, Winfrey is already garnering strong reaction among her fans -- both those who are pleased with her decision and those who are not, such as Grossman-Green.So what do YOU think?
"I'm actually pretty angry with her right now because of this," she said. "I don't think I will be a gung-ho supporter right now.
"I'd think twice about switching her on or even buying her magazine."

The big "O" is a wise woman - I'll give her that. She's played our system of affirmatiion actions etc.. to the hilt and acheived a lot wealth. But you know what? She's still what she was before that and all the money in the world can't change that. She's low class and always will be. Why people cater to her fat ass is beyond me.
I doubt seriously if the daughter's baby is fathered by a black guy. And if it was, he would be out of Alaska so fast the $300 basketball shoes would have melted all the snow and glaciers in the Land of the Midnight Sun.
All the BS about all Governor Palin crooked dealing etc.. that would be great for the dems if it were true
but she is as clean as the wind driven Alaska snow.
I know that tears you people up but learn to LIVE WITH IT!!!

Oprah's show has been a platform for issues close to the heart of women. Though a Palin interview would be a good show to watch, I agree with her decision not to do it. Everyone understands why McCain chose Palin, and why gender and race will become more of the focus as we draw closer to election day. Why stir things up even more by having Palin on the show? Oprah has already made her choice. The lies and rumors will only get bigger, because the republicans need Hilary's women, and white women on the fence, to win. They'll try anything.

Stick to your guns Oprah!! That pitbull with lipstick is a joke. Her speech at the convention made me feel like I was watching a Saturday Night Life skit.

The republicans are trying to discredit Oprah, because they know she is responsible to Barack Obama obtaining a million vote. It is all a set up. I will never be a republican. They twist and turn like snakes especially the Karl Rove tactics they have embraced. Oprah needs to stand up and fight these rumors. The conservatives are trying to hit Obama in the knees by invoking an anti-Oprah conflict. In the end all of those snakes will be defeated. God is stronger than the devil.

#35 You hit the nail on the head!
I was just emailed today those scandalous photos of Palin and watched the video of the young black man claiming to be the baby's father...this will make a most interesting time for the republicans!
Who's taking bets? I bet she'll be on Maury Povich or Jerry Springer before she's on Oprah...

Amen. I'm so glad Oprah has enough class, clout, money, sense, and what have you to still make her own choices about HER show. Palin is dangerous and defintely not the answer to having this woman replace Hilary. Folk wake up. This is NOT a popularity contest, it's about brains, action, the ability to work with not dictate to people to affect change. Yes Hilary certainly would have been a great choice. but don't be silly and too eager to support a female because she is female. Come on women you are better than that. From a female. It was the process that eliminated Hilary. So change the process if you don't like the way it works. There are always several candidates that vie for a position but only one can rise to the top. Note: if one truly was a Democrat then there's no issue, YOU should be supporting the nominated candidate.
