Dear Sen. Obama,
Over the last year you've enjoyed unprecedented support from a political base that was eager to see a neophyte face among the mire of dried up old Washington politicos. Through the tough primary season, you came up smelling like fresh cut roses and enjoyed more love from the media than any American black man ever has who wasn't performing on a field, court or stage.
But recently, if current polls indicate correctly, it's become clear that you're not really running for president against Sen. John McCain, but rather his vice presidential pick, Gov. Sarah Palin. Now, we're not writing you to prop her up at all. In fact, quite the contrary. She's an empty politician who lies about her record and has nothing fresh to offer and whose experience, which she constantly brags about, only proves what a screw up she's been while in public office. ...
With that said, her popularity has made what many initially thought was a stupid pick by McCain an absolutely brilliant one. It indicates that he's learned the FOX News lesson: appeal to the lowest common denominator, grunt your patriotism, and blather what a friend you have in Jesus.
Senator, this is a nation where fast food is actually a billion-dollar business, where shows like American Idol actually get top ratings, but where people can't find the country where we're fighting a war on a map. This is who the McCain campaign is depending on. These are the same people who elected George W. Bush. Twice.
With his selection, McCain has reduced the American body politic from a critically thinking populace of informed voters to a group of 'Wal-Mart moms' who really want a morning TV talk show host. And that's what he wanted because there are more of them than the people you wooed with your "hope" and "change" media buzzwords.
Actually, that strategy worked because, after all, you even inspired "ObamaGirl," for cryin' out loud. But with just a few weeks left to campaign, that modus operandi is old and tired. Your campaign needs a boost over your opponent's.
It's clear that you want to continue to take the high intellectual road, and that is commendable. You've steered away from personal attacks and given respect to your competitors. That is all honorable. But it's time, if you'll excuse me, to KICK 'EM IN THE NUTS, MAN!!!!!
Republicans are very good at using the fear factor to get what they want. Bush used it to get a costly, deadly war started; his father used fear of black men to beat Michael Dukakis in the 1988 election; the late Sen. Jesse Helms used it against his opponent Harvey Gantt to galvanize whites against "racial quotas." And now they are using the same Birth of a Nation psychology against you.
Your insistence that McCain being "four more years of Bush" is not enough. You need to point out one or more of several fear factors of your own:
1) That if McCain is elected, prolonged war in the Middle East, and possibly elsewhere is certain.
2) That under a McCain White House, public schools will continue to diminish into underfunded, overpopulated uncontrolled houses of chaos.
3) That urban crime will increase back to levels not seen since the height of the crack epidemic.
4) That wiretapping, monitoring and other erosions of civil rights that we should expect in a free republic will increase until we are living in an Orwellian police state. Can anyone say "Patriot Act?"
5) That if McCain is elected, and dies in office, then the stewardship of this country and the leadership of the free world will fall squarely into the hands of Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island.
Now I do not expect, at this point, for you to be able to win back the "Wal-Mart moms," that is, if you ever had them at all. They've been looking for one of their own and any black dude who isn't Wayne Brady (when he's not pimpin') just ain't it. But to win, you should look to the same voting base that put you on top in the first place: African Americans.
Black folk, from region to region made the difference, but historically we've shown that when we're neglected we become despondent and wind up not voting at all. You should absolutely pit our votes against theirs, combining them with the base already pledged to you.
To be real, your political roots are in the 'hood. That's someplace that McCain and Palin know nothing about, but are arrogant enough to belittle. Yeah, if you want to go there, we're talking about race (this is BlackVoices, after all). You have to get your supporters out to register people and get them to the polls. Just wearing T-shirts is not enough...black folk have to VOTE in order to get you into office.
All we're saying is toughen up, man up and fight back. People respect both intellect and strength -- kinda like Vito Corleone. And if you gotta be a little gangsta to get what you want, then nobody's going to stand in your way.
If you're not ready to consider these tactics, then consider the alternative: a country whose culture has devolved into a landscape of superstition where there had been reason; pseudoscience where there had been critical thought; fear mongering where there had been rationale; tightly censored media where there had been a (relatively) free press; and politically mandated allegiance where there had been a laissez -faire spirit.
If McCain wins, then we will wish for the days we joked about Bush's mispronunciations. If you lose, we all lose.
Grow a pair.
Signed,
An Aware Black Electorate

Finally someone is telling the truth about Obama, I want to commend the "Analyst" on this blog for hitting the nail right on it's ugly head. People need to recognize that Obama was raised by a white mother and grandparents (World War II racist generation). He never was raised by anyone on his black side of the family. Therefore his mindset is of the caucasion persuasion. He knows he is brown on the outside, but he is white on the inside (OREO). He identifies well with white folks more than blacks. Which is why he has been boosted to where is he, mostly from campaign dollars from his white counterparts. He manipulated blacks by pretending he understands our plight, he is clueless just like his white counterparts. He lived part of his life with other brown cultures (Hawaiin, Indonesion ect.). So he has been exposed to other cultures, but the black culture. He does not have a clue about the black culture. He is a stranger to black culture. By marrying Michelle, he has learned from her about black folks and our struggle. Don't get me wrong, I am sure he experienced Racism when he went to Harvard and left Hawai. But he is one of the blacks who thinks he is better and different from the common black person. Many Whites (not all) embrace him because he thinks like them. If he wins the election, he will be the house n____. The whites will pull the strings and he will be their puppet.
Don't think for a minute that he will recognize the issues that blacks face on a day to day basis, Police Brutality, poverty, crime, Mortgage scams, racism ect.. When he gets in that office, he will only look out for the rich black folks like Oprah who helped him get in office with their $$$$. He will take blacks for granted and throw us away, like he did Jeremiah Wright a man who was "like an uncle" and "mentor to him for almost 20 years. I did not agree with everything Rev Wright said, but who always agrees with what their pastor says? But Obama showed his true character when he did that. He is not loyal to anyone that gets in the way of his goals, if he could sell his own grandmother to get in the white house he would. People wake-up educate yourselves about this man and the other candidates. Don't vote ignorantly for someone simply because they are black. Vote for them based on how they will make an effort to address issues that will eventually plague your community and your children's future. Vote, but Vote responsibly.

Melted, go to the head of the class! It's a relief to meet someone who uses his head for more than a hat rack. You have truly put Obama into perspective. Many talk about his "outstanding education". His education has been an impediment to him comprehending black issues. The so-called "Ivy League" schools indoctrinate more than educate. These schools sale themselves by promoting the myth that those that graduate from their schools are better than anyone else. A wise person will overcome this indoctrination, but a fool will not. That is one reason Obama has an inability to relate close level to blacks. Take his pseudo-education into account with his upbringing as you so clearly described and you have a non-white who ina actuality hates black Americans. I graduated from a black university and a black law center. My school addressed the needs of the black community in a way Harvared or Princeton can never do. (When a law school has produced huge numbers of lawyers, judges, and statesmen it ceases being just a law school and becomes recognized as a Law Center, something Harvard and other "Ivy League" schools have yet to achieve.) By the way I am willing to bet Obama has not seen the inside of criminal court more than three times since Harvard Law School. Such schools just do not produce defense oriented lawyers. Most lawyers love it when one an "Ivy League" lawyer shows up in court. They get eaten alive everytime. So much for the myth being perpetuated by the Obama's fine education. I believe Michelle wrote she suffered through Princeton being ostraciszed as a black person. I would never subject myself or my children to that kind or foolish racial torture with historically black universities ready to answer our educational needs. Take care and stay strong. Your clarity in life will take you far. Dignity and common sense are valuable traits.

None of it matters, Obama isn't black according to him. Listen to him speak when people accuse him of using the "race card" to get more votes. He seperates himself from BlackVoices as fast as possible.

You would put a man with no experience in politics running our country simply cause he is black, sometimes, when it benefits him. If you notice, every time he is confronted about being black and using it for votes he strongly addresses it and lets everyone know he is not black. Nice guy there, really has your back.

As much as I admire Sen. Obama, the fact remains that his election will not change one blessed thing for the average black family.
Unless we STAY IN SCHOOL and encourage our children to become educated, we will continue to be shackled by the chains of ignorance and poverty.
Unless we GET A JOB (and actually keep it), we will continue to be crushed under the thumb of the white man's charity.
Until we STOP MAKING BABIES WE CAN'T AFFORD TO SUPPORT, we will continue to doom our children to lives of neglect and imprisonment.
Until we TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR OWN BEHAVIORS, we will continue to be held in contempt by every civilized culture on the planet.
Unless we STOP MAKING EXCUSES, we will forever remain our own worst enemy.

FIRST: BUSH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTACK. THE CIA WARNED BUSH AND HIS CABINET MEMBERS ABOUT BEN L BUT THEY BRUSH THE CIA OFF. SECOND: McCAIN SPENT TIME IN A POW CAMP WHICH WAS A GREAT SACRIFICE BUT THAT DOES NOT MAKE HIM QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT. McCAIN STATED IN 2000 THAT HE WOULD NEVER USE HIS POW STATUS. IN 2008 HE IS USING HIS POW STATUS AS A GUILT TRIP, WHAT A DIFFERENCE 8 YEARS MAKE. HOW LOW CAN McCAIN GO? NOW HE IS PIMPING PALIN BY USING HER GENDER. WOMEN HAVE FOUGHT TO HARD FOR RESPECT TO LET PALIN AND McCAIN USE FALSE SEXIST CHARGES TO GET VOTES.
