When the verbal jabs start flying Thursday evening at the vice presidential debate, Democrats might be anticipating an easy knockout win.And who could blame them.
In the Dems corner stands Joltin' Joe Biden, 6-term senator from Delaware and two-time seeker of his party's presidential nomination. His record shows that as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, few, if any, lawmakers know more about the international perils facing our nation.
And in the Republican corner stands Sarah "the Barracuda" Palin, a doe-eyed former beauty queen, Alaska governor and newcomer to the national political scene. Her record shows that she told interviewer Katie Couric she can claim international relations experience because Alaska borders Russia.
Looks like a mismatch for the ages, right? But in this upside-down political environment where real world experience can be viewed as a detriment, I wouldn't rush out and bet on a Biden blowout just yet. ...
Just look back eight years ago when two-term vice president Al Gore faced a scrappy, straight-talking governor from Texas named George W. Bush in a highly anticipated presidential debate.
Going in, political observers predicted Gore would make mincemeat of the Bush. So what happened? Political pundits lowered the bar of expectations for Bush. And when he managed to at least stay upright and awake during the face-off, Bush was perceived to be the winner.Bush also played to the current sentiment that lawmakers with Washington experience like Gore were the problem. With his Texas twang seemingly lending authenticity to his words, all that was needed, Bush reasoned, was some good-old-fashioned, shoot from the hip, common sense to deal with this complex and dangerous world.
Look at where all that common sense has us today.
Exactly when did the notion of having proven, time-tested, experience become a bad thing? You would want it in the mechanic who repairs your water pump or the surgeon who repairs your leaky heart valve.
But when it comes to Washington politics, bring us the next pretty face that can claim they are an outsider and we just might give them the highest elected offices in the land.
So keep your eyes open and don't say you weren't warned. If the Barracuda manages to stay upright and awake Thursday night, political inexperience will have claimed another victory.
All debates begin at 9PM ET View Detailed Schedule

That is exactly what the GOP wants. Republicans are CON ARTISTS!!!! They know all eyes are on Gov Palin and if she looks good with her smile and folksy accent and takes a few sarcastic jabs at Sen Biden she will be praised. Its so sick to see, John McCain has made a mockery out of this campaign and his supporters eat it up (smh) McCain/Palin are not leaders they are CLOWNS!!

All Biden has to do is tell Palin "Really??" to anything she says.
Or "Do you really believe THAT, Sarah?

Agreed, Mr Shepard. I'm actually a little nervous about the debate. Palin comes into it as the obvious underdog. She's expected to fail, and do so miserably. Biden is supposed to have her for dinner. Everything seems to be pointing to a Palin intellectual beat-down!
BUT... not so fast my friends... let's just see how the entire thing plays out before announcing Biden the winner. The Repubes just might be up to some GOP trickery.

Joe Biden is ready and very experence,to assist Obama. I truly don't believe that Sarah Palin will make right decisions as well as McCain. When excepting this position there should not be any lowering of the bar we should have learned, from lowering bar for George W.Bush which will be repeating down the same road of bad judgment. The day to day business,or foreign affairs don't by no means change to suite who we put in office. Is this type of bad politics is what we the american people have to except.

Sarah Palin is a joke! I watched the rest of the Katie Couric interview today. Katie asked her what publications she regularly reads. She could not come up with even one title! I mean, come on! She could have even lied and said, Time, Wall Street Journal, The Economist...ANYTHING! I guess the gal only reads Redbook.

Here's the problem, americans don't actually know who Joe Biden is. Biden is the most repected man in goverment on foreign policy.
Mccain was the first to congratulate Biden on his selection.
That's not just political diplomacy, that's respect for years of service and expertise in foreign relations.
Remember obama's response on foreign policy in the debate.
Any lack of respect for Biden's authority on foreign matters from Palin would conclude how green (like unripe tomatoe)she actually is!
When obama talks about his ability to make good judgements, part of it is his abilty to choose competent advisors.
Like papa bush said about baby bush during his campaign
"Give him a chance, a president is as good as his cabinet"
We all wittnessed the exodus of his cabinet members during his second term. Hence, the catastrophic errors being made to this very minute.
I will commend Mccain's decision on Palin with respect to his adroitly avoiding having to debate Biden on foreign policy.
It shows his experience in goverment, knowing his weaknesses and avoiding obvious defeat.
Better to put an ambitious young woman in the ring with seasoned vetran, than putting himself in harms way.
Typical Mccain politics.
With respect to obama's good judgement and refusing any campaign funds from corporations and goverment, the link below will explain it all.

There is no one better to trust at this time in the White House!
