Gwen Ifill will bring a twist to the must-see vice presidential debate on Thursday.
The PBS vet broke her ankle on Monday after taking a nasty spill while walking down stairs. She was prepping for the VP face-off between Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Delaware Senator Joe Biden. ...
To top it off, Monday was her birthday!
"Another crazy twist in a crazy week," Ifill told the AP, confirming her injury in an e-mail. Ifill is moderator of PBS' 'Washington Week' and senior correspondent on 'The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer,' hosted by last week's debate moderator Jim Lehrer.
Have you ever watched Ifill in action? My guess is she'll do a better job than Lehrer did, in pain, and on crutches, she'll STILL kick some butt. Only need one leg to accomplish that.
Was I the only one screaming during the first debate for the moderator (that's you Jim) to MODERATE?!?!?!
Now get this, Ifill faces bias charges from the GOP over her yet-to-be published book. Common guys, Palin hasn't even LOST the debate yet. You can't claim someone's cheating!

We need to pray for Gwen Ifill that everything will go well during the VP debate and for a speedy healing of her ankle. Why? I know of a meteorologist’s wife who died from a broken ankle due to blood clots. The best thing Ifill can do, is to stay active. I trust that she will.

Gwen i've seen a debate you've done you were awesome, please don't let them give you any hassles about your book. I've heard Rick Warren who did the saddleback debate is writing a book on palin how biased was that. Your writing a book shouldn't have anything to do with her answering questions.

Gwen is a seasoned, unbiased professional journalist. She will give both VP candidates equal time - and tough questions.
You can count on that from her.

Give me a break. Anything to keep Palin shielded from the media and showing the world the truth...
Gwen is an accomplished and objective journalist who has always been able to keep her personal views out of her work. She was brilliant in 2004 and she will be stellar tomorrow. This is a conservative attempt to stall and nothing more. The woman will do her job the way she always does and the country will see each candidate in their own words.
Ifil has not injected her opinions into coverage thus far and I anticipate her being nonpartisan and asking objective questions. She is a great JOURNALIST!!!!! deal with it!!!!

I hear Gwen Ifill is writing an Obama book that's due to be released in early 2009. Ifill should excuse herself, and the broken ankle is the perfect reason. The conservatives are already talking about Ifill's pro Obama book in reference to this debate, and how unfair the media has been to Palin. WAKE UP OBAMA CAMP! DON'T LET THIS ERROR IN JUDGEMENT BURY YOUR CHANCES IN NOVEMBER. If the Obama people don't want crying right-wingers and women voters on the fence, all over them, they need to find a sub or add a pro GOP moderator. If I were in the Obama campaign loop, I would not want Ifill to ask the questions. If Palin goes down in flames, which she might, the GOP will have an excuse, and they'll get many Palin sympathy votes on Nov 4. Believe me, the GOP's praying Ifill stays, so they can cry foul until election day. If Palin does well, they'll say she held her own even though the fix was in. IT'S A NO WIN WITH IFILL! OBAMA CAMP, WAKE UP!
