What's the first thing that comes to mind when you see it? Nothing. Well, some say what should jump out at you is the "racism;" a ten dollar food stamp with Obama's head on a donkey surrounded by ribs, the Kool-Aid man and a KFC bucket.
But here is the kicker, the president of the group that distributed this says it's not so; She says there is nothing wrong with it.
Diane Fedele, President of the Chaffey Community Republican Women, says she simply wanted to deride a comment Obama made over the summer about how as an African-American he "doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills." Still, she says that she plans to send an apology letter to her members and to apologize at the club's meeting next week.
As quoted in the Press Enterprise:
"I didn't see it the way that it's being taken. I never connected," she said. "It was just food to me. It didn't mean anything else."That statement alone sums up the problem with this entire ad and the sheer ignorance that's behind it.
For all the polls and congratulations that are bestowed upon Barack Obama, this is what some people still think of him and the African-American race.
Lets hope things like this don't block Obama's growing chance of a seat in the White House and a place in history.

I am simply taken aback at the sheer ignorance of this matter. Race relations are a clear issue concerning this election even though most will not willingly admit it. The fact of the matter is, not all black people depend on food stamps, and not all blacks eat ribs or fried chicken. Honestly, the group that created the "Obama Buck" needs to get a handle on reality and stop existing in a bubble.

Now there are reports that McCain has slave roots. The man has black relatives and he's been trying to avoid them. I haven't really heard any of the media talking about this. Check out the link:

This is outrageous and unacceptable! These are the same people who are always hollering about the race card and getting angry about an African-American saying that after 400 years of oppression, they are proud of this country for electing a Black man as a presidential candidate. You can't have it both ways. You can't pretend to be appalled by Rev. Wright's statements and stand back and say nothing about this kind of vile, hateful activity. Oh! And let's not forget James Dobson's Obama Waffles!
Either you understand that there is still racial prejudice and bigotry in this country and stop whining when we complain about the treatment or you continue to pretend that you don't see it and that we're 'pulling the race card' when we speak our opposition to this kind of oppression.
This bigoted, racist woman knew exactly what she was doing and what she was invoking! I'm sure her local KKK chapter is very proud of her.

Diane Fedele's ignorant explanation is indicative of racial socialization. Sadly, she may never understand what is wrong with the picture. It is people like her who keep institutionalized racsim thriving. Ms. Fedele, when you hold subconscious views, you sometimes act them out in conscious as well as unconscious ways. Need I say more?

Hey, as a white male, 43 years old, Im offended by this. Funny thing is growing up I was taught to be afraid of 'black' people. Ill have you know 'all' of the black people Ive come to know are far more interesting to me than most of the white. Im not parshall either but I am offended to think and see that the same people Ive come to know would actually stoop to such a level and for what? Listen, close your eyes, tell me what he is talking about is not sincere. Tell me he couldnt be the next 'good thing' for this country. Im voting for him and Im a republican. Race issues should be old news by now.

I can only feel pity for this woman, She will never be able to fully enjoy life as it should be with this kind of thinking. When you intentionally insult another person the insult is always on you.
