Do did you see Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live? What did you think? Maybe it's just in my head but I felt a small tug of discomfort watching as Palin played with the others. Try as everyone might, the interactions between the cast and Palin fell a little short of breezy. Why? Who knows? The cause could be as simple as poor cue card placement.
To Palin's credit, I thought she looked appealingly silly bopping along to Amy Poehler's 'Palin Rap.' And certainly did herself no harm by showing up and standing next to a crew that has mocked her and her running mate consistently. I think it was a smart move.
For Palin, the cameo offered a chance to demonstrate a lighter side in the midst of a hard-edged campaign. She told radio host Neal Boortz on Friday: "I just want to be there to show Americans that we'll rise above the political shots that we take, because we're in this doing serious business for serious challenges that are facing good American people right now." Los Angeles Times, Live From New York it's Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live
I think I understand Palinspeak better when it's coming from Tina Fey.
What rhythm did Palin had? PLEASE! Why was she on there? She looked real stupid and NO it's not going to help McCain and her in the POLLS! Instead of her being on SNL, she should have been home taking care of her baby and getting herself together for this IMPORTANT AND CRITICAL ELECTION! Yes, "I SAID IT"!
This is no time for HUMOR in the McCain camp! These hard times, this is not the time to be JOKING AROUND. She looked real SILLY up there! She didn't even interact with Tina Fay? In my opinion, Tina Fay is the STAR! I watched it to see what was the big deal of her appearing on SNL? It gave SNL the ratings but didn't do anything for the McCain camp in the polls! NICE TRY!
I never thought I would say this but now I just feel sorry for Sarah Palin. You can tell she did not want to be there but she was. When you look past that smile, I saw tears. Who likes to be made fun of, even for votes? It looks like she sold her soul to the devil. The way the McCain campaign has exploited this woman is not just sad, but it should be offensive to all women. Even some conservative women have come out & said that. The campaign treats her like a secretary, & they send her out with such incendiary material creating all this turmoil in rallies and she’s left to fend for herself. Call her what you may, but I just see her being used. The sorrow I feel for her is the same I feel for young aspiring actresses who went to Hollywood but ended up in porn, because they do not know of another way. Misguided and exploited by men are the parallels I see. I wish the McCain would stop the exploitation of women on so many levels. It is UNACCEPTABLE!
I think I'll head out today and ask people why they didn't vote for me to be VP. I am 41, female, have little knowledge of politics, but am witty enough to get by on some random facts, I am sarcastic and flippant about important issues, I have an 18 year old daughter who got pregnant last year and had a baby out of wedlock, and I'm pretty. If that's all it takes, I'm jealous.
Conservative women get what they deserve. Republican by definition means repressed, oppressed, seen not heard if you are a woman. It means chauvinistic, over bearing and narrow-minded if you are a man. No sympathy here!
I agree with Fierce, it's horrible the way that Palin is being used by the McCain campaign. As soon as the campaign is over, they'll discard her like yesterday's newspaper. It is an insult to all women, but she put herself in that position. Most intelligent people know whether or not they are qualified for a certain job. She could have said, "I'm flattered, but I'm just not ready yet." Instead, she accepted the offer and has gone out and smeared Obama, incited violence and racism at her rallies, and made her ignorance on all the issues public. She has used her gender to garner male votes, and she has acted in a sexualized and flirtatious manner not befitting of a political figure. Overall, she has acted immaturely and irresponsibly. She is an insult to women everywhere, so she deserves what she gets. And with any luck, we won't be seeing much of her after November 4.
I'm voting for McCain and Palin but I do agree with you that she was out of place on SNL. She was too normal. This show isn't funny, it's just weird and juvenile. Alec Baldwin? Yeah, he's funny. Tina Fey? Strange.
Get out and vote. Registering is only half the journey and doesn't count unless you vote. Remember some marched, was jailed, beating and even murdered so you could have the right to vote. Don't be fooled by pool numbers and stay away from the voting booth.
To be frank, Palin is being pimped by McCain: Pimpin' Palin. The Republicans are using her big time! When this election is over, she will be used up and a has been. She will be the the Pet Rock of the eighties --a fad from the past. As for her future, Palin's name will occasionally be remembered if it is used as a question on Jeopardy.
Get a hold of yourself,FOOL she isn't what she'd like to be and she surely isn't going ANYWHERE. she's a little lady who don't care about on thing and that's WHITE FOLKS,send her BUTT BACK TO Alaska, take that Attitude and that OLD MAN who you try to call Politician and RETIRE, if not you at least Him, he's TOO OLD TO RUN ANYTHING, let alon a CAMPAIGN. Please.
