PALIN: That's something that Piper would ask me! ... [T]hey're in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom. SOURCEUm nope. That's not it. Wrong answer.
From Thinkprogress.org
Article I of the Constitution establishes an exceptionally limited role for the Vice President - giving the office holder a vote only when the Senate is "equally divided": The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided. Moreover, the U.S. Senate website explains that the modern role of Vice Presidents has been to preside over the Senate "only on ceremonial occasions." ThinkProgress contacted Senior Assistant Parliamentarian Peter Robinson, who also disputed Palin's characterization of the Vice President's role: In modern practice the Vice President doesn't really control the Senate. ... If anyone has a responsibility to try to govern the Senate, it's the responsibility of the two leaders.Further, Thinkprogress spoke to Jim Manley, spokesman to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), he says:
This comment is all the more puzzling because this is at least the 2nd time she has said this. Gov Palin needs to re-read or perhaps read for the first time the Constitution. While the Vice President presides over the Senate, he or she is not in charge of it. Article 1 says The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided. The Senate is part of a co-equal branch of the federal government.PS Just a note, to the some of the Conservative "USA, USA" chanting type folks. One of my most cherished possessions is a little something I received as a birthday present from my mom last summer. It is a complete copy of the United States Constitution condensed into a 3" x 3" red leather book. Its beautiful cover is embossed with gold lettering. I keep it with me almost all the time. I wonder how many of you who chant "USA, USA" in response to protest or comments that you disagree with have ever taken the time to sit down and actually read this magnificent document? And if you have read our Constitution, how do you make sense of chanting "USA, USA" to refute opinions different from your own? I am so comforted by the fact that the candidate I am supporting for President of the United States of America was a Constitutional law professor.
PPS I am working from my local library this evening. In honor of Sarah Palin, I got a library card today.

Sarah Palin is dumber than a third grader. She tries to come off as this hockey mom, this Walmart mom, and then the RNC ends up spending $150,000 on a wardrobe for her, that makes no sense. The stores that she did her shopping in were stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Macy's. Now what hockey mom do you know who shops at Saks and Neiman Marcus, please she needs to stop thinking that she's fooling somebody, this is just not right. Then you have John McCain who has 9 homes and 13 vehicles, what makes you think for one minute that he cares about the low and middle class people, he wouldn't have a clue, he's rich. You know, I have a problem with people who are just down right out stupid and think for one minute that John McCain and Sarah Palin are the best pick for the USA, it scares me to death to even think that Sarah Palin is going to do anything with the USA including trying to be a VP. The reason why so many Uncle Toms and Aunt Tommie's, plus the rednecks and racist have a problem with Obama is due to lack of knowledge and race, because we know that Sarah is stupid, and we also know that Obama is smart and educated. Do you think Sarah Palin could pass third grade if she had to go back to school, I think not.

Listen, this is the real deal, now we know that Sarah Palin should have taken the opportunity to found out what being a VP is and what the job responsibilities of the position would be, especially if she didn't have a clue as to what that position is about, instead of checking out the facts, this idiot goes out and gives this dumb stupid answer to a third grader. On the other hand, Obama, now we also know that if Obama doesn't have an answer to questions that he thinks are going to be asked of him, he has the good sense to follow through and get the answer and then make statements, he just doesn't assume that he knows everything. Here's the difference, one wants to be informed, the other could care less. This to me shows character and strength and ability to get it right the first time. Sarah Palin just makes things up as she goes, and most of the time she is just wrong, sad but true. She's sure isn't fooling many people, they've figured her out to be the dummy that she is, too bad John McCain hasn't figured it out yet, I guess that's why he's behind in the polls right now. People understand that Sarah Palin is just not a good choice, she seems to have a problem with telling the truth. She is nothing but an air head, full of hot air.

Actually, she was correct in her answer according to wikipedia and senate.gov.
This was taken from wikipedia.
"The Vice President of the United States[1] is the first person in the presidential line of succession, becoming the new President of the United States upon the death, resignation, or removal of the president, should he or she accept the position. Every presidential term ends on January 20 of the year immediately after a presidential election. As designated by the Constitution of the United States, the vice president also serves as the President of the Senate, and may break tie votes in that chamber. He or she may be assigned additional duties by the president but, as the Constitution assigns no executive powers to the vice president, in performing such duties he or she acts only as an agent of the president."
The below link was taken from www.senate.gov
The title of this section is "the Vice President of the United States (President of the Senate)"
http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/common/briefing/Vice_President.htm
Taken from senate.gov
"During the twentieth century, the role of the vice president has evolved into more of an executive branch position. Now, the vice president is usually seen as an integral part of a president's administration and presides over the Senate only on ceremonial occasions or when a tie-breaking vote may be needed. Yet, even though the nature of the job has changed, it is still greatly affected by the personality and skills of the individual incumbent."

The bullsh!t with white folks! William had the audacity to say that "They (the Anglo-Saxons) all came to America to be Americans, not to change America." HAH! Did you run that statement by the Native Americans, the true owners of this land? They are not part of your example either. "My bad!" America was "DISCOVERED" by Columbus, silly me!

Special Police foiled a plot to kill Obama, I just want to say this:
What are you white folks thinking of? Don't you know if you kill Obama that you will have something worst than the KKK or any white supremist group. This is not the 1960's where the only black terrorist organization was the Black Panthers. Now you got the Bloods and the Crypts and these guys are nationwide from city to city and they pack just as much firepower as the police. As Aretha Franklin said (you better think)!
