Now, the last high-profile folks I heard of to be found guilty of lying under oath got way more than 120 days in jail (for example Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Lil Kim), so Kilpatrick should thank his lucky stars (and prison stripes) that he didn't get worse. ...
But man, the judge laid into him, chastising him like a high school freshman who dropped water balloons from the balcony above the gym.
"Ultimately what shocked this Court and much of the community was your press conference after your plea hearing. That night the community expected to hear a message of humility, remorse, and apology. Instead, we heard an arrogant and defiant man who accused the governor, among others, for his downfall. Your statements were incredible given the fact that you had just pled guilty to two felony counts for perjury and obstruction of justice and no contest to one count of assaulting a police officer in exchange for dismissal of 7 counts before this Court. Although the Probation Department's pre-sentence report indicates that you have accepted responsibility for your actions, this Court questions your sincerity..."
Actually, it was harsher, like if he dropped water-filled condoms; which makes a better metaphor since what he did was both more costly and would have been funny to him if he had gotten way with it.

Considering the things that he did, I, personally, feel that he should have received more time. I am tired of these public and elected officials thinking that laws don't apply to them.

He was a real player, now he has to pay for his playing ! Its unfortunate, this was a young man , who had a lot going on for himself, but he was young, foolish, and too
arrogant. He has a lovely wife, and children, a good job, but all of that still was not enough to "satisfy "
his huge "ego"! Now he has to pay the price for his actions! In retrospect was it worth putting all of this on the on the line to have an affair with a "subordinate"? I wish him & his family well !! This is a young man who really blew it-- Too much Too fast!

He was behaving like a buffoon! And his wife didn't behave any better--laughing in front of the cameras--behaving asinine.

As a White Man, I grew up in Detroit, my Father worked for Cadilac Motor Car Div. We all have watched the downfall of Detroit. But all of you who support that slime bag, raicis, corrupt, drug siniffing, blood sucking "Kwame" Kilpatrick, and defend him with the "Race Card" can KISS MY ASS!!!! Every thing that has happened to Detroit in the last 30 years has come from the hands of black people. Just drive down Woodward past the ball park and you will see the "Real Detroit", made famous by Blacks. Look at the deterioation of all the old land marks....Belle Isle, Detroit Zoo, Central Train Station, Mo Town, and all the Industrial that used to thrive there. The only thing that gets attention is the African Museum! Kilpatrick should of been sent to jail for life! Not for being black, but for all of the above and all the Blacks he took advantage of. Don't remember his credit card stunt that was footed by the city? Or the new SUV his wife was driving that he lied about at the cost of Detroit. His drug and whore parties at the Governor's Manson? That's right, turn a blind eye and use the Race Card. Call me a Racist if it makes you feel good. But the facts are what they are and that Man didn't get what he really deserved......It's shit like this that has made most of the White people move from Detroit, never to return except for ball games. You must be an Obama devote!!!!!!! God Help America!

It is so sad to see a man who had it all, wife, children, status in the community, public office, loving mother throw it all away to protest a lie of infidelity.
Even sadder is that he has not humbled himself.

There are alot of good black leaders who have hailed from Detroit over the last 50 years so it would be beyond ignorance on my part to even suggest that all have been as arrogant or cocky as Mr. Kilpatrick has appeared to have been. I bet he never believed his thoughtless actions would lead to this.
As far as his wife is concerned, obviously, once the decision was made to stay she probably figured she might as well play the part to the hilt. Here she's seen in the courtroom embracing and chuckling with a man who not only had an affair, but who's affair was made public! She's simply trying to save face by appearing to be this happily married wife...

Mr. Triplett, I am not mad at you most black feels the way you do, at least you did not generalized all black people, but why must this be about Obama. Mr. Obama is an educated, intelligent man who epitomize and exudes the importance of a self respected, responsible man. Many times, black people let power get to their head and their own kind is the ones who suffer. People in Detroit have to want and demand more from their people in charge and not enable their behavior because of race. Looking at Mr. Kilpatrick, you could see the arrogance on his face, hope he gets what he deserves.
