Case in point: on Tuesday news outlets reported that Washington lawyer and former deputy Attorney General in the Clinton administration Eric Holder would be Obama's choice for Attorney General when he takes office in January and the nation's first African-American to hold the spot.
Now, of course Holder should be held to proper scrutiny and vetting and the media should do its due diligence when looking this guy over. But it didn't take an entire day before conservatives (whom I thought were supposed to be regrouping after they got their gnads handed to them on election day) decided to blast the cybersphere with all sorts of distraction about Holder.
I can hardly wait until Matt Drudge goes on the attack. ...
During his time in the Clinton White House only two controversies attached themselves to Holder, the first when he was originally appointed had to do with his opposition to the death penalty. Despite his opposition, he pledged to uphold the law as it concerned the issue, which he did.
The second was during the closing days of Clinton's tenure when the president pardoned Marc Rich, a commodities trader and Democratic contributor who fled the United States while being prosecuted for tax evasion and illegal oil deals with Iran. Clinton pardoned him on his last day in office in 2001.
Holder came into the picture when Rich's lawyer, Jack Quinn phoned Holder trying to test the possibility of getting a pardon. Later, he arranged a call between the White House and Holder asking for his opinion of the matter, which was neutral but leaned toward support of Clinton granting the pardon -- although the decision ultimately lay with the president.
In later testimony, Holder said that he was neutral in the matter, but the then Republican-led House of Representatives which was reviewing dozens of Clinton pardons had an influence on Rich's pardon. But that was it, he was not reprimanded or punished by any law enforcement agency or governmental entity. He instead went into private practice.
Now, all this makes me wonder why conservatives couldn't give the same scrutiny to disgraced Attorney General Alberto Gonzales who was alleged to have perjured himself before a Congressional hearing and wound up resigning in 2007 over the mess he made in the Justice Department after seven U.S. attorneys were fired for no reason. This controversy was the beginning of several including his gross misinterpretation of the constitutional writ of habeas corpus and the National Security Administration's eavesdropping controversy.
Perhaps the standards by which someone can screw up the most airtight legal organization in the world should be what we measure any new Attorney General nominees. Or maybe it's the opposite: maybe conservatives can let the vetting and selection process go through and then allow him to perform before he gets chided.
Rest assured, this is only the beginning.

These republicans are a nasty bunch, they really don't believe in america or freedeom. hopefully enough americans are realizing this,at least the election seems to confirm it. they will ALWAYS try to rule through division and fear. This is NOT what our country needs.I'm hopeful [but cynical] that Obama can actually UNITE us and get us back on track .

A dying breed
November 4th 2008 marked a tremendous milestone in unifying our great country. The first African America was elected President of the United States of America. This monumental election was felt across the world, and its favorable impact on how the world would now see the United States, is only measured by the overwhelming approval of the new President elect himself.
Barrack Hussein Obama's name alone would suggest that racial intolerance is fading more and more towards the way of the Jim Crow laws. This election process was not divided among racial lines, 65 to 70% of President Elect Obama's votes came from non-black Americans. The whites that voted for our new President elect were voting for him because they believe in his message and believe in his ideas. The argument that blacks only voted for Barrack Obama because he was black is mainly false. Blacks without a doubt had a very viable candidate in Barrack, and his undeniable presence along with his fascinating ability to unify and lead made the choice for blacks extremely easy.
But let's not fool ourselves, the problems with race relations in this country are not going away anytime soon. The hard truth is, Bigotry is alive and well, the trick is to recognize it. RACE did play a part in this election. As much as the far RIGHT tries to SPIN it, by saying their views are not based on race, the evidence shows otherwise. The most interesting and upfront evidence that race divides us when it comes to the RIGHT and LEFT as it related to this campaign, were the crowds that assembled at the Republican rallies. 99.9% white is the guestimated figure associated with these rallies. An unspoken but blaring message coming from the Republican Party is their inability to reach out to the minority races, and their lack of concern as to its importance. Over the last 25 years, the Republican Party has become experts on disguising their racial intolerances. The far Right media channels and news programs have gone through great lengths to hide and spin the truth when it has come to blacks and their position on different issues. These organizations are well aware of the sensitive nature of race as it relates to millions of whites in America. Playing on this fragile and volatile subject, Republicans used this to incite the deep seated intolerance of this group. Code words are used on major RIGHT wing media stations when referring to blacks in an unfavorable light. "KOOL AID DRINKER" being one the code phrases used by a major new commentator. "Real Americans" is another phrase used not meant to include blacks, black Democrats, and Democrats alike in some cases. In any case, race divides us more than the issue and ideals that naturally separate the two parties. The fact is the Republicans would rather continue to stay behind the racial curve, and hold onto the divisive ways of Bigotry and intolerance towards a race of people. Because of the Republicans moral beliefs that they and they alone stand on the side of God in every aspect, their views on race relations plays distance 5th. Fortunately, Bigotry is a dying breed, and as the resent election has proven, the majority of Americans would rather vote an African American into the White House because of real National issues than to succumb to Bigotry and racial intolerance. To further support the suggestion that some Republicans are Bigots, they would risk electing the most non-qualified candidate in the history of politics than to elect someone who is intelligent, motivates, inspires, unifies, and brings hope to Americans in the most tumultuous time we have experienced since the great depression. Without saying, if Barrack Obama was white and his name was Steve Smith and he projected the same integrity in this election, then it would have been over 21 months ago. The new America has spoken, and the Bigots of the world will have to find (and they will) other things to hate. So in my continued opinion, in at least this election, not all Republicans are Bigots, but all Bigots are Republicans.

Is Jessie stupid or what? Bush is the President, Obama is the President-elect, so who made the stock market drop- duh! Before you write a comment watch the news and read a history book first. I can't believe what some of you are saying about Obama and he's not in office yet. I think its funny that none of you have nothing to say about President Bush and he cabinet of idiots! They are the reason that our economy is the way it is and the crazy thing about it- its not affecting their pockets, but it is ours- unemployment. Why don't some of you just get over it and realize that Obama has won! I guess if you can't except 4 years of that then go live on you our little minded island for the next four years.

Well folks here we are.
Now the REAL non-sense begins.
Questioning every decision obama makes before he makes them.
Joe Biden said during the campaign that a generated crisis (meaning a conspiracy) would test the mettle of president elect obama.
In other words, there are those that would seek to frustrate and even discredit the decisions made by obama on a crisis that they (whoever they may be?)would create.
The question is...who are these people?
Obama is sincerely seeking to put together an adminstration that would be bipartisan and effective in dealing with our domestic and international concerns.
We are aware that members of the bush adminstration and other white republicans in government have profited from both oil price increases (primarily due to conflicts in the middle east) and weapons sales (afganistan and iraq).
This usually happens when those in public office hold private interests.
The problem with obama (from a profiteer's perspective)is that he holds no private interests, neither in oil or weapons.
This means, to a degree he is untouchable.
To those who have exploited our goverment; as well as, our soldiers, he is a dangerous man.
To those who exploit islamic followers, he is extremely dangerous because he has nothing to dissuade him from taking an intelligent approach and getting the job done, which is certain death.
Many of the weapons that pakistan aquires are infact directly or indirectly sourced from U.S. weapons manufacturers.
How entrenched is the pakistanee government with these weapon manufacturers, and how far can they be influenced when obama goes after al quaeda in pakistan.
My fellow americans, when the object for the last 8 years or more has been to make big money and not good government the worm goes very deep.
Try to be critical thinkers and not media automatons.
