Desiree Rogers, longtime friend of the Obama's, successful businesswoman and Harvard MBA, will become the first black woman to assume the post of White House social secretary. Even if she knows you, it is unlikely that you will be getting an invitation any time soon. According to the Chicago Tribune:"It will probably be overwhelming, initially, as people want to get into the White House and want to be a part of all this," Rogers said. "We're not going to be able to have everyone there in the first year. . . . People are going to have to be a little patient with us."
The White House's State Dining Room, for example, can seat only 130 to 140. Many-including close friends from Chicago-are going to be turned away for some of the hottest White House tickets. ...
Rogers has a very distinct vision about how the White House should be perceived and of her role in bringing that ideal into fruition:
Despite the limited access to many events, Rogers said she wants to help Barack and Michelle Obama make the White House a welcoming and inspirational place.
She said she hopes the future Obama home will be a place to showcase the best the nation has to offer for arts and culture, but also be a place that highlights "great minds, great Americans and everyday Americans."
Rogers, 49, will be the first African-American to serve in the full-time position, one responsible for organizing and overseeing all White House functions and ceremonies.
She is wrapping up her duties at Allstate Insurance Co., where she was creating a financial social networking program. But she is already studying the Kennedy White House, an administration renowned for its White House functions. "This is not just going to be about the culture and the arts," she said. "Part of this is reaching out to all Americans."
And Desiree Rogers is definitely in step with the no drama, no leaks Obama transition team doctrine:
The Obamas seem highly disciplined. Rogers was coy when asked whether they can also party.
"We'll see, won't we," she said. "I think the one thing that is very obvious is that they enjoy life and each other and their friends."

Just as long as she stays on point it should work out real good. I am sure that the Obama's didn't have a open house before he became President, and he and his wife will show the world real true character and dignity and morals unlike the Clinton's and Kennedy's did while they lived there.

Well, she won't have to worry about wrapping xmas gifts this year, eh? Nobody can afford Santa. And it helps to be a millionaire, too, since the job will require hobnobbing with that fastidious, overly enfranchised bunch. GOod luck to her. I wish her well.

I am glad to hear the Obama's want to have real people at the White House. There are so many young children who already relates to the Obama family. For the first time in history, we have a family just like us in the White House. I have a daycare and to hear kid's say things like I look like Obama and I want to go to his house and play with his kid's makes me proud to be an American. These are children, just learning to talk, when you ask who is the President, they look at you with a smile and say Obama. I am going to be one of those people begging to make some of those kid's dream come true, and let them go to Obama's house.

Dear Mr. President:
When Tiger Woods plays golf he will often take a large banana out of his bag and munch down on it all the while knowing that the media is watching a black man eating a banana. I suspect Tiger does it for the nutritional value as well as a slap in the face to all white racist American who pinned black Americans with that whole black and banana stereotype.
Mr. President you be sure and enjoy watermelon on the steps of the white house also. As Tiger crushed that stereotype, you to can do the same.
Please invite me to the white house. I'll show you guys how the rub it in their faces.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to your invitation to visit the white house.
Thank you
Warm Regards,
Xavier Graham

I have always admired smart people black or white. So why should'nt other people admire the way things are now and be happy for CHANGE. Obama is the President for a reason,so let it be. God put him there just like He put Bush, Reagan, Clinton, and all the rest of the past Presidents. Change has come. Just let it be.
