An Oakland transit cop struggling to handcuff a 22-year-old man, stood up over the suspect and fired a single shot into his back while fellow officers watched. That what's seen in a short video taken on New Year's by a train passenger who caught the arrest-turned-execution on film. Source
The shooting death of Oscar Grant did not have to happen. Even if the police were busting him for being involved in a fight on the train. Unarmed, he pleaded with cops not to harm him or not to taser him, according to a friend who witnessed the shooting. The officer shot anyway. He was a young father and husband.
The family of the victim (see second video below) is suing the transit police for $25 million. ...
The video above is apparently just one of the various recordings of the incident that have surfaced. There were a lot of people around when this occurred, and plenty of armed officers too, at least five. It was New Year's and parties were letting out.
And get this, the lawyer says transit cops confiscated cell phone images from people who witnessed and photographed what went down in Oakland. No way!!

No need to wonder if Oscar Grant III had been White...he never would have been shot. Officer Mehserle, bottom line..."lost it and snapped"! All other officers involved know exactly what happened and know Grant was no threat to their lives whatsoever. Unfortunately, "racism is alive and well". Sad all around.

The DA needs two weeks for charges to be filed against the Officer? More than enough time for Mehserle to leave the country and seek asylum elsewhere. Even if it was an accident (thought he pulled out a taser???...still unjustified and negligent). Other involved Officers cannot risk their jobs, lives, and mental health for Officer Mehserle's stupidity, lack of control, and racist beliefs. Oakland needs to show the world that positive changes can be made regarding the Police and the African American Community.

Right because this guy was such an up-standing citizen. And Oakland sure is the greatest place on earth.
The only reason this got publicity is because it was just another attempt at hyping something up.
People kill each other on a regular basis and chances are this guy was a trouble maker if he was willing to start a fight in the subway system.
Not only does he have to be incredibly stupid he also has to be suicidal. Right in one of the most guarded places he starts a fight.
This idiot being killed is just a step in the right way. I just pray his seed didn't spread.

I just watched the video on this page and I have to honestly say that I did not see where the officer drew his gun. The voice on the video says he pulled his weapon but I did not see it leave the holster, all I saw was a flash of light. If there are better video's out there I would like to see them so that I can see the incident for myself. If the story is true, it's shameful, but according to what I was told, the officer resigned his job and stated that he was reaching for his taser, not his gun therefore it was an accident.

Hey, is the guy in the bottom picture wearing a hair-hat? It looks like his hair is being held in place by that black strap that goes down below his chin. Any help in this would be appreciated.

real sad! and then the law wants to know WHY ?people (youngsters)don't obey, maybe it's because the ones standing(SUPPOSES-ABLY)for the law(police officers)really aren't. This innocent person(child)gets killed (shot)for no apparent reason(JUST BECAUSE).so many other innocent lives were around when this DEVIL decided to pull his trigger out and do this. He(bastard)needs to be held accountable for his actions (severely), not just fired from his job. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY, YOUR CHILD IS AN ANGEL, GOD BLESS!!!!
