Officer Johannes Mehserle is accused of shooting Grant while he was lying face-down on a train station platform. More than 100 people were arrested by police, according to KCBS-TV. Officer Mehserle reportedly resigned from his post.

What cracks me up is the fact the protesters damaged all those stores and cars that belonged to people that had nothing to do with the police or Oscar Grant. Kudos to the protesters who were non-violent and went about this with in a peaceful manner. Justice will be served.

joey, I couldn't agree with you more! There is absolutely no "logical reason" for those protestors to damage anyone's property period! Because, those people didn't have thing one to do with that unfortunate event, so why do they have to suffer along with the neighborhoods that also have to now wear another black eye because of the behavior of those protestors, the looting that we all know accompanies that kind of attitudes...sadly this behavior is predictable as usual! Why must we as apeople continue to destroy our own communities? Then turn right around and expect the white man to reinvest, or rebuilt them for us when many of us don't even want to keep the neighborhoods clean! That kind of abberant behavior isn't helping anything, and most of us already know that, but use situations of this nature to destroy, damage, loot, and deprive opthers of their hard earned property! Shame on us....again! When lord will we ever learn? Not anytime soon so it appears!

Closing point. On "ANY" given weekend across this country blacks are killing other blacks in record numbers! That's not new information....been like that for years now! That begs to ask the obvious question as to "WHY?" Then why don't black people then protest those killings at the hands of other blacks? And, raise the standards of our communities to "STOP" the killing! Many only want to protest when the ploice are involved, so why is the standard being applied different? Killing is still killing no matter what the color of the killer is! Where is the "sense of urgency" from the black community ....about the black community when ever "ANYONE IS KILLED" by anyone, be they black or white? I think that we have grown so accustom to the violence in many of our communities, like it's the norm! Sadly, it has become just that! we as a people really need to take a long hard look at ourselves as a people in the mirror of life, because it's apparant that we have some serious issues to both address and reslove.
