Comcast Launches All Obama Channel

Having trouble keeping up with the smooth and swift Washington wheeling and dealings of our President-elect and his transition team? Can't get enough news about and views of Barack Obama? Well, have no fear! Comcast has the answer to your prayer. Comcast is launching an 'All Obama' channel. From Michael Calderone at Politico.com:

Do you need Obama coverage 24 hours a day? In several markets, Comcast cable is launching an all-Obama, On Demand channel. (In D.C., it's channel 963).

Leading up to Inauguration, the channel will offer a number of Obama-related programs, according to a release: "Barack Obama's most famous speeches to date, from his keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in 2004 through his election night victory speech in Grant Park; Barack Obama biography; Michelle Obama's 2008 Democratic National Convention speech; a tour of the White House; and the history of Air Force One." ... And as you might guess, the comment threads are just exploding with opinions about Comcast's latest addition:

well, why not? the republicans and bush have had their own channel for years, it is called FOX.

Try having the Obama channel programming highlight his greatest accomplishments. Then Day 2 the channel will cease to exist.

I voted for Barak and would not hesitate to do so again but do we need 24/7 coverage. What's next, Sainthood??

Look folks, this is not worth getting your knickers all in a twist. Comcast's goal is to make money. If people sign up for this OnDemand channel, Comcast makes money. If not, then expect this channel to disappear as quickly as it popped up.

Will you be watching?
