More than 100 million dollars in donations have been raised for the construction of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial to be built in Washington, DC. Although construction has not begun, a ceremonial groundbreaking actually took place in 2006. The total cost of the memorial is estimated to reach $120 million so there is still some financial ground to cover before the foundation can be laid.
The site for Dr. King's memorial sits on the banks of the Potomac river between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials.
The approved site creates a visual "line of leadership" from the Lincoln Memorial, where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, to the Jefferson Memorial. SourceREAD MORE: Buildthedream.org

I think this would be a good works project for the Obama administration. I would have one in each state capitol along with a museum of black history.

Jessie, I agree with you. I just think of all the history that took place to get to this moment.

I believe we should get rid of having Black History Month, it should be taugh everyday. some school don't teach Black History at all, so a lot of are children don't know alot about black history. One Month is not enough. I agree that the month of Dr. Martin King birthday to be a very special month, but Black History everyday for are children sake.
one monyh is not enough time to education the chilren to about thier history roots

why is black history so much more important than any other history?
it wasnt only blacks that were enslaved
you should look into the irish and what they had to go through
eating there own babies to survive
in school they teach a bit of everything
because "YOU" think its more important does not mean everyone else does
