OK, I'll admit it. I'm jealous. Really jealous.

Damon Weaver, a 10-year-old kid, got press credentials to the Presidential Inauguration and I didn't.

What's up with that!?! All I got was a two sentence e-mail last week saying: "Sorry. Your request for Presidential Inauguration credentials was denied."

Who's handing out press credentials anyway, Big Bird? First off, I'm about 20 years older than this Florida fifth-grader. I'm old enough to vote, too. Second, I'm three-feet taller. And did I mention I have a college degree!

Central Florida's News 13 reports that Damon's been going on MSNBC and CNN like he's freakin' Roland Martin or Juan Williams.

This cub reporter had originally been denied official press passes in D.C. just like me ... thank God. Someone's doing their job. Then, the Inaugural Committee had a change of heart. What? Sure, maybe he's a "cute kid," as a co-worker of mine points out. But all 10-year-olds are cute! That doesn't mean they get to play grown-up whenever they want.

If this kid gets an interview with Barack Obama, because you know that's what he's gunnin' for, I promise to hang up my hat as a journalist-slash-blogger. All I can say, I too will be in D.C. for the inauguration young man ... without press credentials! So watch out.
