From the "It Shouldn't Even Surprise Us" file:Now that there's a black president in the White House, we're seeing the latest of the barrage of anti-black insults that are no doubt likely from people who really believe they're being funny. Case in point, Lafayette French Pastry in Manhattan has decided to craft what it calls "Drunken Negro Head" cookies in 'honor' of President Obama.
Truth is, if you know your history, the pictures of the cookies look more like the autopsy photos of Emmit Till.
Look, I watch South Park just as much as anyone else so stuff like this is what it is. But at the same time, I've got a feeling that in a strange, ironic way, racist humor could become en vogue with the perpetrators of it simply apologizing after they get their 15 minutes of fame, just like Lafayette owner Ted Kefalinos did. I guess Don Imus beat him on his original idea. ...
All I can say is, that ain't cute man. If someone were creating stereotypical images and treats of your ethnic group and making a profit from it, how would you feel?
