But it's not the statements that are so mind-boggling as it is the serious fervor with which he seems so convinced. There's a reason why Keyes and those of his ilk are relegated to the fringes of politics...
Some of Keyes's highlights...
"Obama is a radical communist, and I think it's becoming clear. That's what I told people in Ilinois, and now everybody realizes that it's true. He's going to destroy this country and we're either going to stop him or the United States of America will cease to exist."
"The man is an abomination. He is a man who has actually advocated infanticide. That when babies are the target of abortion, if they happen to escape the abortionist's intention and are born alive. ... He actually supported the idea that those babies should be set aside to die. That is a man with such a seared conscious that I can't even understand why anybody in their right mind would consider him worthy of political support. That's a violation of conscious that is inconceivable. And even some of the most hard-line pro-abortion people in America rejected that abomination and he did not."
"Is he? That's another question, is he president of the United States? According to the constitution, in order to be president of the United States, you have to be a natural-born citizen. He has refused to provide proof, in fact, that he is a natural-born citizen. His Kenyan relations say that he was born in Nairobi at a time when his mother was too young to transmit U.S. citizenship. So I'm not even sure that he is president of the United States."
"President Obama ... the person who you call president Obama, and I frankly refuse to call him that, at the moment, he is somebody who is kind of an alleged usurper... who is alleged to be occupying that office without constitutional warrant to do so. And he's rushing forward with ideas to destroy our borders, an amnesty bill that will actually have Americans footing the bill for illegals to come here, to live, to get housing and whatever they want.
"This is insanity. It is as if we put insane children and adolescents in charge of our government."
What can you honestly say to a man like Keyes? Some Repubs may disagree with Obama's politics but almost none would even waste time debating the insane idea that he isn't an American citizen. And those who do quickly retract their foolishness.
If you didn't already know, Hawaii is a part of the United States, Mr. Keyes. President Obama's campaign team even made a copy of his birth certificate back in mid-2008. But it is increasingly evident that facts will not deter the likes of Alan Keyes as his questionable agenda marches on to the drumbeat of inconsequence.

Birth Certificates? Grom some of the conversations that I read about on this blog, we should be questioning if some of the right-wing nut cases on hear even have a certificate from Ding Dong school.

I am saddened by this man's words. In the name of tolerance I must hear them but it truly saddens me to learn of this deluded man's rambling from my young nieces facebook page. We in the 'civilized' world seem to exist in a state of 'the extreme' we are so dulled to the realities of daily life, the joys and simple happinesses, that we must partake of greater and grosser entertainments. Mr Keyes has no bearing upon my life (except these words i am obliged to write here) but many people will take them to heart with no attempt at verification or discernment. This is mob mentality. WAKE UP and THINK for YOURSELF.
