Obama Says Help is Here - Weekly YouTube

A cardinal rule for good leadership is to always manage the expectations of your followers.

And President Obama has followed that advice to a tee during the opening stanza of his presidency. ...

Despite being swept into office on a wave of enthusiasm, emotion and hero worship unseen in national politics in decades, Obama has been careful to warn Americans that tough times are still ahead for the foreseeable future, and that his policies to bring change will take some time to make a difference.

Well, President Obama had a different message for us in his address this week. With the recent passage of his American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Obama has -- ever so slightly -- moved to a new message: Help isn't just on the way, help is here now.

"...there will now be shovels in the ground, cranes in the air, and workers rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, and repairing our faulty levees and dams," the president said.

He added that by April 1, the typical family will take home $65 more a month due to tax-cutting provisions. Not huge money in any real sense but nearly $800 dollars a year that is better served in our pockets than rattling around in government coffers.

So while we know the economy won't turn around overnight, we have received word from the top that we can expect to see some improvement NOW.
