D.L. Hughley's not the only one getting a pink slip.'Chocolate News,' with David Alan Grier, has also been axed. Neither show completed an entire season.
Word is both 'D.L. Hughley Breaks the News' and the Comedy Central show will play through the rest of the month.
Maybe Grier will do better on the new season of 'Dancing With The Stars' -- at least he's got another job.
So why did these shows die? Was America ready for a black president but not two black comedians commenting on the news at the same time?
As one Baltimore Sun TV critic put it:
Were one or both of the shows offensive to blacks, as some have claimed or are we the nation of "cowards" when it comes to talking about race? ...
I'm no critic, but I think both shows were just okay. So I'm not surprised.

To bad, I really enjoyed 'Chocolate News' when I could remember catching it on TV. I thought Grier
was actually really funny. His catch phrase "Have you lost your damn mind!?!" was always on que and on point when deliver. However D.L. was having a hell of a time with his delivery of punch lines.
Dude could'nt get his rhythm down. Between the two I always thought that Grier would fill Dave Chaplle's show void, it did for me!!!

I agree completely. Out of the two I thought "Chocolate News" would have survived. I watched it a lot and was waiting for more episodes. My dad, who enjoyed it as well, and I would talk about his humor.

chocolate news was totally hilarious. grier was great because his humor went a little deeper than most, and instead of it being all about a 'black thang' he picked on all those that deserved it, white or black. i just wonder if whites liked him picking on white people, and if blacks liked it when he picked on his own.

I agree 100% lala. Both of those shows were extremely lame and at times, racist and offensive to whites and blacks.
