D.L. Hughley's not the only one getting a pink slip.'Chocolate News,' with David Alan Grier, has also been axed. Neither show completed an entire season.
Word is both 'D.L. Hughley Breaks the News' and the Comedy Central show will play through the rest of the month.
Maybe Grier will do better on the new season of 'Dancing With The Stars' -- at least he's got another job.
So why did these shows die? Was America ready for a black president but not two black comedians commenting on the news at the same time?
As one Baltimore Sun TV critic put it:
Were one or both of the shows offensive to blacks, as some have claimed or are we the nation of "cowards" when it comes to talking about race? ...
I'm no critic, but I think both shows were just okay. So I'm not surprised.

My..my..my! I don't don't why in the hell these white people or white networks just wont get it. And I'm not evening going to just comment on CN or D L's show. But on alot of really good Black TV shows. It's always been like this. As soon as a nigga gets success, it's immediately put to a holt. But I praise Paul Mooney for mentoring Dave Chappelle for the mental slavery that keeps ignorance alive a obviously well. Because Dave slapped the shit out of CC for turning down their slave money. But it baffles me when whites just don't get it. Now, that in itself is ignorance. And it wasn't like Chocalate News was crappy in ratings. It was actually doing very well for the network. Hell, CW's The Game is fighting it's own network to stay alive and it's a damn good show. And only because The CW is forcing its ratings to sink by moving it to a Friday. A Friday. When everybody's happy to be off from the work week and ready to go out and party. Hell, they never show advertising for it during the week. Nor do they with Everybody Hates Chris. And to make matters worse. If you notice: they only show the "black commercials" during the airing of these 2 shows. Now if that doesn't tell you that their racist them what will. But in the end and when it comes to end. The non-cursed race will triumph and look down upon the evil doers in hell.

Just googled Chocolate News to find out when the new season starts. Was very bummed to find out it's been cancelled. I found the humor to be a breath of fresh air. I was beginning to think there was only one "approved" official view of what makes up African-American culture. To see DAG poke fun of some African-American sacred cows was refreshing. I started thinking there might actually be some diversity within the African-American community. I guess not enough to keep the show on, though.

I really enjoyed Chocolate News. I thought the humor was outrageous. I agree that the show wasn't for everybody, but for those of us with a more specific taste, it is a shame that the Chocolate News was cut short. Comedy Central should grow a pair. You didn't even give the show a real chance. And for those who didn't like it, why not just change the channel? It was a very great show. Too bad it's gone.

I personally thought the show was great. It kind of reminded me of "In Living Color". The show made jokes of everyone. My son, who is in middle school, and I watched it every week. We couldn’t wait for the show to return at the beginning of 2009, but I knew it would be cancelled. I am thrilled that I recorded all 8 episodes. Don’t worry about the copyright issues. I will only be showing it in my home. We need more laughter in today's society.

Dang!! This show was hilarious!!! Why couldn't they wait until it found it's audience? Where are the re-runs? I've been waiting for the re-runs for months and now I find out the show has been cancelled. That sucks.

Most of the people commenting negatively on this show probably said the same thing about the Dave Chapelle Show, remember that one! I read one comment that said the show was tasteless. It's "comedy" its supposed to be tasteless or it would be a talkshow. Also, I don't know what black people that guy talked to, but DAG has been a part of the black household since "In Living Color" and was always funny. However, I guess we still have the gut busting Colbert Report. What ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They also first aired the show during the "Presidential Elections" with very little promotion. Everyone's ratings suffered because people wanted to see history unfold. To top it off Comedy Central didn't have the balls to air that the show was canceled. A bunch of P***IES if you ask me. I see why Dave told them to kiss his a**, an eye for an eye. This was a great show!!!!

I thought the show was extremely funny. Me and my husband looked forward to watching it weekly. I'm glad the old episodes are back on.
