Obama California Dreamin' - Weekly Address

In the afterglow of his trip to California last week, President Obama said he learned that people aren't as concerned about the news of the day in Washington as they are about the challenges they face putting food on the table and making their mortgage payments.

That's fine and probably right. But I hope the president isn't deluding himself into thinking that there isn't a real and deep anger among the American people over so-called "news of the day in Washington." ...

The initials A-I-G get people's blood boiling. People are asking legitimate questions about who is responsible for letting the insurance company get away with a massive giveaway on the backs of the American public.

And the prospect of having to make the argument in support of future bank bailouts using our tax dollars should keep President Obama awake at night.

In his address this week, the president said he's going to refocus on the four cornerstones of his proposed budget: reducing dependence on foreign oil, improving education, reforming the health care system and trimming the national deficit. All are worthy of serious consideration.

I simply hope the president doesn't continue to deny people's legitimate anger. We had eight years of a president who was out of touch with his constituents. We don't need anymore.
