The radio segment featured a slew of offensive statements in which the hosts seemed to revel in their own banter. At one point, one of the hosts stated, "We're not racists. It will be good to have a Negro in the White House. It will be practical. Black on white, it will be easier to shoot him."To its credit, the Canadian Broadcasting Standards Council said it found, "nothing redeeming in the allegedly comedic notion that an American president should be shot, still less that this would be easier to achieve because of the color of the president's skin. It was a disturbing, wounding, abusive racial comment."
On another segment of the show, an Obama impersonator was featured in a faux interview in which the host said, "The blacks, you all look alike," and then warned viewers to hide their purses.
The council added that the comments and sketches breached regulations, saying they "went too far in terms of Canadian broadcast standards." Which is kind of a given, provided that they probably went too far as far as global broadcasting standards are concerned, save for, of course, those ever-resilient neo-Nazis and maybe the Klan on close-frequency ham radios.
Not surprisingly, the producers of the show actually denied the skits had been racist, saying they had meant to mock the characters making the offensive remarks, which is akin to saying Rush Limbaugh isn't a racist... total BS.
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is supposedly conducting a probe of the show. And although it doesn't have the power to fine Radio-Canada, it can issue a public reprimand.
According to a spokeswoman for the commission, such reprimands could cause problems for the network when it comes time to renew its broadcasting license. Radio-Canada is due to apply for a license renewal in 2011.
And amid all this is the fact that Canadians, like much of the world, overwhelmingly love President Obama. Polls regularly show that Canadians like Obama far more than they do their own leaders. Tens of thousands turned up to cheer him when he made a brief visit to Ottawa in February. That makes it even more mind-boggling that a radio station would think it was appropriate to air something so belligerent.

Although the enslavement of mankind in general has been recorded as early as 1200 BC; the first African slaves were reportedly transported to the 'New World' in 1517. This is 76 years after the first black slaves were captured and taken to Portugal.

Because offensive advertising was permeated throughout the world for many years, (and still is, as you will see in a few upcoming slides) it should come as no surprise that in more modern times 'racism has become the scourge of European soccer stadiums.'

Topsy was a stereotypical pickaninny character in the book, 'Uncle Tom's Cabin.' Uncle Tom was a slave in the book. The term 'Uncle Tom' is recognized to be offensive and a derogatory name for a black man who is abjectly servile and deferential to whites.

Early definition of minstrel: a medieval poet and musician who sang or recited while accompanying himself on a stringed instrument, either as a member of a noble household or as an itinerant troubadour.
The black-face minstrel act was a very popular form of entertainment in 19th-century America. White audiences were receptive to the portrayals of Blacks as singing, dancing, grinning fools. T.D. 'Daddy' Rice, the original Jim Crow, became rich and famous because of his skills as a minstrel. Interestingly though, when he died in New York on September 19, 1860, he was broke.

Showing blacks to massacre the English language, further perpetuated the false idea that African Americans were somehow unable to be educated.

Racism is wrong, and reverse racism is still racism. There's absolutely no reason for white people to "pay" for the mistakes of their ancestors, or for black people to get special benefits due to crimes committed against their ancestors. That was the past. Yes, there were a lot of hateful white people. But, really, who can examine their entire family history and not find at least one person who did something wrong? I think it's silly and ridiculous for minorities of any kind (race, gender, etc.) to think they're entitled to special treatment just for being a minority. I think it's more disgraceful to get a scholarship or a certain job because I'm a female rather than based on my qualifications. If you want equal treatment, then prove that you are equal! Stop begging for handouts and pity for something that didn't even directly affect you!
As for the article, I think it was disrespectful to joke about the assassination of our president. I am not an Obama supporter, but unfortunately, he is the one representing our country to the rest of the world. He's going to be criticized, just like all of his predecessors. If he can't handle it, then he shouldn't have run for president. If you can't handle it, you shouldn't have voted for him to be in such a position.

Why is it that you Americanized so-called brothers always involk God into everything good that happens to us? What does God have to do with this convo. I'm a brother who is an atheist, and do not believe in a white God or God as your master taught you to do. Obama's ability to be where he is, is because of his intellect and ability to lead. Yes he is the best and smartest president of all time, worldwide, but only because he is fair and has the ability to think. It has nothing to do with God. So please keep your slavemasters ideas to yourself and keep your comments relevant to this blog entry.

"wisdom" No "man of God" would ever insist that an aborted baby that survived the attack MUST be killed as it lay there suffering from the inhumanity. Someone with such low regard for the most innocent and defenseless of humans should even call himself a "man" but certainly no one should EVER confuse this UNGodly man as being a Cristian or a "man of God." Please do NOT think that real Christians and humans are stupid enough to not see what he truly represents, it's not God.
"bodyconstruction" What's so "smart" about a pres who cannot even speak without his teleprompter?

"Racism! Alive and well." Well of course it is, and the people most guilty of perpetuating it are ones complaining about it. You are reading Black spin in Black Voices. Does it occur too you that the existence of this site is racist? You do not find A site here called White spin or White voices. Why cant we be people, not categorized by our skin tone? I would guess that what racism still exists would have been reduced by at least 50% were it not for these anti white web sites, racial agitators like Jesse Jackson, Tony Brown, and Al Sharpton. Doesn't it occur too anyone that the perpetual mentioning of race is what causes racism? If not kept stirred up, it would die off.

To Damien: I would like to correct you on your point. The CIA has jurisdiction all over the world(when it involves U.S. security) and the Secret Service can arrest or detain anyone who is a direct threat to the President if the President happens to be visiting or planning a visit to that country. And if you're gonna "chin check" anybody that says something YOU don't like....Well, I hope you are a good fighter!
