I got a call the other day from someone in the Obama Administration. I get a sense that key players in the administration read Black Voices in order to determine what the black community is thinking. While I found the correspondence with the official to be respectful and pleasant, I felt that my opinions on policy are not the ones that he should want the most. So, with all necessary respect to the privacy of our correspondence, I want to pass this onto you.
The problem for the Obama Administration when it comes to hearing from prominent black voices is this:
Black newspapers are dying and media is changing dramatically. So many of the black daily newspapers (and radio stations) that have traditionally served as valuable platforms in the black community are no longer in existence. Ebony and Jet magazines are having financial trouble. I would even dare say that the challenges for Essence magazine are likely protected by their merger with Time Warner. That leaves us with the Internet: a symbol of tremendous opportunity but a reminder of the grave despair of traditional media.
Black Voices is the leading black news website in America. By engaging with them, you have a direct voice into the Obama administration. The Administration needs to hear that voice, because they should at least be aware of the implications of their African American policies before they are released. I hope you will leave your comments and feel empowered to tell the president and anyone else reading what you think. I also hope that those in the Obama Administration who read those comments understand that our community has now learned the value of holding our president accountable, no matter what his race may be.
First and foremost, I'd love to hear comments on the success (or lack thereof) of President Obama's first 100 days in office. A video below breaks it all down. Take a look!

Ok, I think that it is a wonderful thing that people from the OBAMA Adminstration reads what we have to say, maybe if adminstrations before him would have done the same thing maybe we would not be in as much of a mess as we are in now. I am not President and will probably never be in a position to ever run, so whether he is doing his job to my standards is not my call. BECUASE I KNOW THAT I CAN NOT DO IT, SO I CAN'T JUDGE HIM ON HIS JOB. So far I think he's doing just about as good a job as anyone else in his shoes. Just like your job of giving advise and opinions and my job in the classroom, someone will always think that we can do better or they can do better than we are or they know someone who can be better at doing what we are doing. Its just a matter of what... opinion. I enjoy your advise and like you I may not always agree with it, but you may be better at it than me so.."you go boy ;)"

If, in fact, you are an educator then I am appalled at your lack of correct grammar and spelling!

Holly S. please refer to something you learned in grade school: Stay on task. One typo does not mean that any one should be appauled at anything. This blog was concerning a call from the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, not now well anyone can spell or misspell. We all have a mistroke of the hand every once in a while. STAY ON TASK!!!

BTW, Holly, taking into consideration how it bothers you, the previous typos were intentional. :)

Obama needs to remember that black people and liberals got him elected. If he continues to ignore us, we can get him unelected. The next time the Republicans try to cut him off and hurt him, he is going to be begging to us for his support.

Not exactly true, Mr. Obama's election to President was not based upon black and liberal votes, but what God has in His Divine Plan for this country. We are only ignored if we don't use our voice for the good of all.

what do you mean? Majority of the stimulus money has gone out to the areas and people that voted for him. 36 czars would tell you that he is helping those that helped him. 700 million to Planned Parenthood when their profits were at 900 million., 75 million to Acorn.
