Glenn Beck has excused murderous rampages as an understandable result of "political correctness" and joked about poisoning a member of the United States congress.
And to top it all off, he diagnosed bi-racial President Obama as being infected with a psychological bias against white people: "This president has exposed himself as a guy, over and over and over again, who has a deep-seated hatred for white people. ... This guy is, I believe, a racist."
Many of us complained to FOX and nothing changed. Until now.
The push back against Beck finally took off when James Rucker and Color of Change.org started a petition aimed at FOX's lifeblood: advertisers, not the network itself.
GEICO told us that they will no longer run ads during Beck's show.
This comes on the heels of news last week that four other advertisers -- Lawyers.com, Progressive Insurance, Procter & Gamble and SC Johnson -- also distanced themselves from Beck. None of this would have been possible without the thousands of people -- more than 75,000, now -- who have taken action and signed our petition to Glenn Beck's advertisers. [ ]
We're making incredible progress. As Glenn Beck's advertisers learn of his hateful rhetoric, and how deeply it concerns thousands of organized people across the country, they're deciding that they don't want their companies associated with Beck's divisive fear-mongering. Beck has the right to free speech. And we have the right not to spend our money with companies that condone inciting hate speech and to redirect those dollars toward companies that condemn it.
I signed the petition and sent it to 20 of my friends. And I'll call GEICO for a quote when my current auto insurance runs out in October. Can't say for sure that I'll switch, but I will if they can make the numbers work.

Obama is not a racist, he is a criminal. Rahm Emmanuel will join him in prison. This President may precide over the second civil war. If Obama wants a Socialist country he is going to have to take it from the half of the country that believes in Democracy and the Constitution. Good Luck!!! We are ready. People are lucky there is only some yelling going on, once the Dems lose their majority in 2010 we can start investigating the criminals in the White House and their corrupt ties to ACORN, Feddie Mac, Goldman Sachs. Obama will be in prison faster than you can say Barack Hussein Obama.

In response: watching the news, I see you have also been watching the news. What you have said about those with whom Obama is still associating is absolutely right. Reading your comment, I was made to wonder just how many writing these comments have actually heard speeches made and writings of those surrounding Obama. Just who is racist on this comment panel? Some have said that a white would not ever vote for a black, or that the reason some didn't vote for Obama was because Obama was black, or black and white, but the black seems to outweigh the white in these people's minds. However, has anybody ever heard of Alan Keyes? He is black, and as far as I know, ONLY black! If he ever ran for president, I would be among the first to cast my vote, as quickly as I could! Maybe the 'racist' comments need to be altered to include whether the 'black' man runnnig for office has a liberal platform or agenda! Could that be the case? Alan Keyes is a conservative, a very reasonable and non racist man, the last I heard. Put Obama and Keyes up for election. Wonder what the outcome would be? I would hope that there would be enough 'thinking' and 'researching' minds in both black and white communities to actually vote for the 'man' and not the 'skin' - What do you think, Jim?

A previous poster opined that by patronizing the advertisers targeted by Color of Change they could influence them to continue advertising censorship. It would then stand to reason that I, and perhaps 75,000 others would elect NOT to bestow our business upon those same corporations. Fair, right?
