Green Czar and Environmental Adviser to the White House Van Jones resigned from his post on Sunday, stating: "On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide,"
Since then, there has been a whirlwind of commentary regarding the attack of Glenn Beck and GOP conservatives and how many knew it would inevitably come to this. Ben Jealous, NAACP CEO and president, had this to say about Jones' resignation:
Van Jones made a tough decision to step aside so that the nation's reform agenda will not be sidetracked by those who spin lies for profit.
Mr. Jones was on Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world before he entered the White House. He was a best-selling author before he entered the White House. He was someone who made the leap from the public schools of Jackson, Tenn., to Yale University long before he entered the White House.
Now that he has chosen to leave the White House, we fully expect Mr. Jones to continue to help lead our nation out of its dual crises of environmental degradation and mass unemployment.
On a personal note, I have known Van Jones for more than 15 years. In that time, he, as is characteristic of great public servants, has continuously grown and increased his capacity for improving the condition of humanity. Throughout, he has been guided by a powerful sense of patriotism and love for all.
While I get that Jones resigning forces the GOP to find something else to harp on, I can't help but wonder what it means when TV personalities, such as Glenn Beck, can call the president a "racist" and lose advertisers but still hold on to their jobs, while a highly qualified environmentalist can make "inappropriate" comments before his official White House assignment and be pressured to resign because of it. I have two questions: How does this not embolden the GOP? And when will the madness stop?

How are they lies and distortions when the vast majority of what was being said about Mr. Jones by Glenn Beck was straight off of video footage of Mr. Jones. Mr. Jones also did not deny that he signed the 9/11 Truth petition, just that he didn't read it.
As to the end statement. Glenn Beck is a tv personality and is not part of our government. Mr. Jones was a personal aid to the President and is therefore very much a part of the government. Government officials are supposed to be unbiased and at the very least not be a self described communist.

I think Van Jones was right about the 911 state of affairs. He denied the agreement in respect of the President.
The NAACP is not an exclusively Black African American organization and most of the officers have been mulattoes posing as elite African Americans. Mulattoes usually don’t represent or advocate equalities for the general population of Black people, which is one of the reasons why you see more of them in political and social positions and after 400 years the authentic Black Men/ Women being largely populated (as natives, African and around the world) in this country we are wealthless (except for consummerism) and powerless (except consummerism) which if we will, could change those statues in a heart beat…

It is a sad world when the highest office and officer of our nation is disrespected. Things will never change as long as whitey keeps the hoods on.Dirty Black is racism and society will forever be doomed until whitey accepts the fact that soon like racism they too will be vanished.

I think most of americans are so sad. Glenn Beck needs to go into the mountains where it is quiet and call on the Lord to help him. his racism shows so much. I truly have been turned off from " Fox News" because of him and Hannity. What is wrong with them? People can't help what color they are, it is the Lord who chose this for all mankind. Wake up and live, see people as people. Gleen, you need to PRAY hard. You are so selfish.

Why have we not heard from Glenn Beck and Hannity about the Arizona Preacher Steven Anderson that preaches hate against Pres. Obama, stating that he wishes Obama would die. I bet they feel the same way he does. It is disgusting. What Van Jones has done isn't anywhere nearly as disgusting as this Preacher Anderson. Where is the outrage from black people? Why doesn't he have to step down from the pulpit. Why is free speech only for the whites on the right.
