This just in: Deep and virulent racism exists in the United States.
Are you surprised? Of course not. So why does it seem like lately every public eruption of private racism gets so much attention? I couldn't care less about Facebook polls asking "How racist are you?" or Twitter users creating racist hashtags. Of course, Facebook and Twitter need to enforce there own anti-hate policies, but other than that, there's nothing new in the message of individual incidents. What's new is the medium in this 21st century.
Frankly, I wouldn't care if someone was a bigot as long as he could not infect or impact anyone else with his ignorance. Alas, we live in an interconnected society, and one person's prejudice is bound to eventually impact someone else's life. That's when it matters.
It matters when the administrative arm of a major political party does nothing about a racist picture and caption, featuring our president, until it gets caught five days later. So much for outreach to black folks.
It matters when a Facebook poll makes a joke of encouraging the assassination of our commander-in-chief.
It matters when members of our armed forces joke about assassinating our commander-in-chief.
Personally, I'm glad to hear what was once only whispered in like-minded company. It's all coming out in the open. Good to know where you stand. I'll decide if it matters.

OK, _these_ examples are racist.
What we need to get away from is assumption of racism, like the Duke Lacrosse case or the Diversity boot camp at the U of Delaware, and require positive evidence before accusing it.

Racism exists, but it is OVERBLOWN and EXPLOITED by the media, and individuals for money and power. The media uses it for ratings (like sex sells, so does racism). The beer summit with Obama and the police sergeant at the whitehouse was like making a preseason game the Superbowl. So called civil rights leaders use it to line their own pockets with contributions. can anyone say ACORN ?

KANDY...actually I am having a hard time figuring out what to say in response to your comment; I couldn't quite figure out what you were trying to say(should probably use puncutation)...were you insulting our president or commenting on the shooting or what? It sounded like you were insulting the president's work ability, as if we need more people having such negative attitudes about him and he's not the one who thrusted us into financial turmoil...know this, and everybody would do well to understand it, people do better in their lives and for the lives of others when they are given encouragement instead of being put down all the time...anyway, I thought all comments were supposed to be subject specific?

Racism is ingrained in the fabric of America, which led to actual Laws. (Jim Crow and Jane Crow) Imagine that: you can’t drink and drive, carry an unregistered weapon, and Black people couldn’t eat, drink, or socialize with whites. Again, imagine that. Wow… This than led to white supremacy where white devils could rape, murder, and castrate black men, women and children as a sport without any repercussions. Again, Imagine that. There is no humanistic explanation for this.
So who were those people, their descendents today, and where do you all come from? It’s incomprehensible. I’m starting to believe the real reason why it’s so important that whites get back to the moon and mars so bad. I often hear people say that was a long time ago. Negative, the demon who shot the Black Guard at the Jewish Museum was last summer, and the beasts who drug a black man with a rope on the back of their pick-up truck was a couple of years ago. Once again, could you imagine that. To be a racist you don’t have to walk up to a black person and call them a derogatory name, because that's not racism. That's suicide. Until God decides to end this existence like Rome, ancient Egypt, and Babylon, racism will continue to exist in every part of America just like the roads we drive on everyday.

It going to alway be racism in the world and the problem is never going to get solve and why do one color hate the other color and what have the blacks done for the people in the world for them to hate blacks racism is going to end when the one hate that person die but it never going to go away

Great question. I took the IAT a couple years ago and I registered Slightly biased. I was not surprised given that I was watching way too much local news at the time, and I am a product of this society. I no longer watch local news and I am remarkably less fearful.
