It seems that a new segment of the population with entirely too much time on their hands has taken to making sure jokes on television shows, such as Saturday Night Live, are fact-checked.
So if a comedian makes a joke at the expense of President Barack Obama, the writer is supposed to make sure the the punchline doesn't stray too far from reality.
CNN recently fact-checked an SNL skit on President Obama. Are they serious?
I suppose we should check whether the chicken really did cross the road and get a positive identification on who was at the door for all "knock-knock" jokes.
While the idea of fact-checking jokes is ludicrous, I can understand why some folks are upset. As shown in the huge television ratings of comedy shows, such as SNL and the Jon Stewart Show, during the presidential election, these shows are increasingly influential in shaping public opinion.
But these whiners have to get a grip and understand that a joke is a joke and sometimes President Obama and the Democrats will be targeted, and other times, it will be Sarah Palin and the Republicans playing the butt of the joke.
As long as its funny, it doesn't matter who is being clowned.

I couldn't agree more. Life is far too short to take jokes like this seriously. How could A-N-Y-O-N-E feel that the particular jab at Obama could possibly be anything more that a joke? Gee, lets see now.. Oh yea! I get it! The Chinese Prime Minister would definitely shove his butt toward Obama for a reaming.. NOT!I could see jokes about death or killing as going too far, but this one? Someone drastically needs a chill pill!

This was very funny and shows why our country is what it is now. We are creative and we have hard skin. Our President is not taking anymore flux than George Bush during his term; SNL hit him and Palin HARD!(Funny too..lol). We need to understand that we are in a recession and things are not working for the country; so we must smile in dark times. Whom every thinks this is too much, they need to lighten up because there is much more that they could be doing on SNL that many more wouldn't not approve of. It's all in fun and should be treated as that: FUN(basically something to talk about). Black People as a whole have came a long way, but when we got more important things to worry about like parents fighting at a Championship Pop Warner Football game, we should analyze ourselves. This is not proirity because it's fun, learning how to be independent and learn from our mistakes is priority. We seem to have things mixed up, too much emotion, too much pride and not enough understanding. Philosphy is something that we need along with morals, values and understanding not just religion, which is sometimes a mockery in itself. Just remember, we did not set up the tape for this race in America, we were late to the race and injured during it. So we have to gather ourselves and past the tape, not necessarily to win, or to come !st, but to come as a whole.....

To say Freedom and glory of free speech...true! If we can't laugh at ourselves; we'd be lost.

Amen. Obama is in the public arena and people in said arena are fair game for jokes. I'm all for jokes too, just so long as they're done in good taste. Nothing's worse than a poorly done joke I say.
What gets me though is the people whining about Obama being made fun of while it was okay to do so for the Republicans and conservatives. You can't have it both ways people.

You can lighten up if you like. I for one am sick to death of what we call comedy these days. Presidents should be off limits to all comedians because it demeans the office and reduces the elected official to a joke on a regular basis. Other countries must think we are ALL yoyos. To date I see everyone in Washington D. C. as a joke and I wonder where that came from.
